10 THINGS TO LOVE ABOUT YOUR LIBRARY

February is Library Lovers’ Month! We are back with our annual tradition of highlighting our top 10 reasons to love Redwood City Public Library - what are yours?

1. A Place for Everyone – Our mission is to cultivate community and advance equity by welcoming all people to experience the shared joys of literacy and learning. Libraries are for everyone, and we love connecting our diverse community with the resources and services they need!

2. Service Priorities – Every few years, we update our Service Priorities which guide our service to the community. Read them to find out what we heard from our community and how the Library will contribute to community aspirations in a positive way.

3. Library of Things – If you are looking for nontraditional items to check out, look no further! The Library of Things has cakepans, video games, State and County parks passes and so much more.

4. Parenting Neurodiverse Kids Speaker Series – This multi-session community series, held in Redwood City and San Mateo, offers parents and caregivers thoughtful, practical support around raising and advocating for neurodiverse children.

5. LinkedIn Learning – New this year, LinkedIn Learning gives you free access to professionally created tutorials on business, software, web design, photography, video, 3D animation and more.

6. Art at the library – Stroll past the gallery walls at the Redwood Shores Branch Library. At the Downtown Library, find student art in the Family Place, three dimensional objects in the display cases, and rotating exhibits on the mezzanine.

7. Events – Whether you are a job seeker, budding robotics engineer, tween crafter, little reader, or have any other interests, we have something for everyone!

8. Project READ – Our literacy program provides adults, children and families with free lessons focused on reading, writing and critical thinking skills provided by generous volunteer tutors.

9. Teen Center - The Teen Center at the Downtown Library is an active hub for teens to connect with each other, play games, study and so much more.

10 Makerspace - Making is for everyone! The Makerspace is designed to provide the community inclusive and equitable access to technology and other tools like sewing machines, 3D printers and more.
