It's Mittens for Detroit's Summer of Glove

Summer's a great time to talk about mittens and gloves!

We know it's hot, hot, HOT outside – and you probably don't want to think about warm clothes! But.... WE DO!!! We are thrilled to announce the start of our 13th Season of Warmth by inviting you to become a Community Collection Partner for Mittens for Detroit. While we receive new pairs year-round from folks locally and all over the USA, our big Community Collection runs from October 1st-January 10th. (That's just 75 days from the writing of this newsletter!!!) After two years when the pandemic changed our collections quite a bit, we are looking forward to a more normal year... and for you to join us. We welcome public partners as well as private MittenRaisers, as we get back to having 100 Community Collection Partners. Based on our pre-pandemic Distribution Partners' requests, we anticipate needing more than 45,000 pairs. So... the more Community Collection Partners we have, the more mittens and gloves will be donated!

Great news! Our Mittens for Detroit in Pontiac project is returning this year, with more partners and supporters! Last year the project members collected, purchased, and distributed 4,100 pairs for all of the Pontiac Public Schools students, and also a couple of other children's programs. The goal for this year? 8,000 pairs! If you have a business in or near Pontiac that would like to join us, please let us know!

PGA TOUR Golf is coming back to Detroit July 28-31, and we are getting involved in the excitement by participating in the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s Birdies for Charity Program! 100% of your donations go to MFD. The Handwarming Heroes Circle Tops $13,000 in Donations Since August 2018!

In just a little less than four years, our Handwarming Heroes Circle has grown into a wonderful source of funding for our mission. Thank you, Handwarming Heroes!

Last year's Get Your Mitts on This! Online Silent Auction was a great success, thanks to the amazing donors and bidders who brought fun and excitement to the event! Last year's auction raised close to $10,000!
