Capital Campaign 2023-2026

Goal Update!

$2,266,221.72

Contributions and Pledges

Toward our Goal of $3.2+ Million

Every month we make even more progress towards our goal of $3.2+ million thanks to the generosity of so many of you who love this special place and want to help foster its growth for generations to come.

It's Time To Move!

The Certificate of Occupancy has been granted and our team are ready to move on in to their wonderful new homes!

We want to thank all of you who have given so generously through our Capital Campaign. Your kindness is improving the lives of our team for years to come.

The landscaping is done and we are ready

for residents.

TOWER RENOVATION UPDATE:

WELL THAT WAS FAST!

In just a few short weeks, Beto, Hayes, and their team of workers have made incredible progress on the renovation on the Tower.

• The old siding has been stripped off and replaced with durable Hardie Plank Fiber Cement board.

• The stairs and railings, as well as the rooftop deck have all been replaced.

• All windows and doors have been replaced.

The team have now begun gutting all of the rooms for the interior renovations that will transform the spaces into useable meeting and office areas. All that's left to do after that is to paint and stain the exterior which will match the color scheme of the new staff housing.

Be sure to head to the top the next time you are here to check out the amazing transformation and of course the incredible view!

The siding stairs and deck are all complete and ready for paint and stain.

HOW YOUR PLEDGES AND CONTRIBUTIONS TODAY

MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR PROJECTS LIKE THIS

We could not accomplish all of these important upgrades and renovations without your generous and heartfelt pledges and contributions.

• Pledging a gift to The Mountain is an important way to help us plan projects most efficiently, saving time and money.

• Every dollar you pledge or contribute through 2026 goes right into funding these projects.

• Upcoming projects include guest accommodation upgrades, ASCENDER building construction, electrical upgrades and more!

We are most grateful for your support

of this generational investment in The Mountain.

Thanks to All Who Joined Us for Homecoming!

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Mountain lovers from all over descended on Little Scaly to share in the spirit of this amazing place.

Many baskets were woven with Cherokee educator and storyteller Nancy Basket. Many songs were sung by the amazing duo Friction Farm. And many Mountain stories were shared and bright ideas for our future were envisioned. It was the perfect weekend to reconnect with old friends, make some new ones, and commune together in the spirt of the Mountain.

Homecoming is always a special time and we are eternally grateful to share it with so many wonderful souls.

DAM PROJECT UPDATE

As of today, we are still waiting to hear from FEMA as to whether or not we are grant recipients for the Region 4 dam projects. Hopefully by the next Roots & Wings we will have our answer to pass along!

The good news is that they recently requested information on our budget and how much we have available in funding as well as whether we are shovel ready. Thanks to the Capital Campaign, we are continuously growing our available funds and we are definitely shovel ready!

As soon as we have the funds in place, we will remove and rebuild part of the dam as well as install a new drainpipe and replace the deteriorating spillway, ensuring structural integrity.

Dam Project Funding Breakdown:

• The total cost of the project: About $800,000 including $200,000 already spent on permitting, diagnostics, engineering plans, and more.

• The cost of the rehabilitation work: About $600,000

• Total donated or pledged to date for next projects: About $450,000 to complete this and other important Capital Campaign projects.

In addition to rebuilding the dam, the Endowment Annual Gift to The Mountain is providing $28,321 to rebuild the floating dock, repair the permanent dock and water sports storage shed, as well as refurbish the beach.

All of the lake restoration projects should commence in early fall meaning our campers and guests will be able to enjoy the water throughout the summer.
