It's National Book Lovers Day! Are you a Bibliophile? Or a Bibliomaniac?

One is good, the other, not so much.

We've all seen the memes and cartoons; "So many books, so little time" et al. Usually it's some iteration of a content person, perched precariously on a ridiculously tall stack of books, coffee cup in hand.

Wikipedia tells us "The classic BIBLIOPHILE is one who loves to read, admire and collect books, often amassing a large and specialized collection. Bibliophiles usually possess books they love or that hold special value as well as old editions with unusual bindings, autographed, or illustrated copies." ~source

It seems to be a rather short, slippery slope to BIBLIOMANIA, which is characterized by the collecting of books which have no use to the collector nor any great intrinsic value to a genuine book collector. The purchase of multiple copies of the same book and edition or the accumulation of books beyond possible capacity of use or enjoyment are symptoms of bibliomania. ~source

In my recent effort to declutter, it's apparent that I may be closer to the Bibliomaniac side of the equation.

In my great post-shoulder-surgery purge, I even (re) discovered an out-of-print book I've owned for a while; Decorating With Books - whose lovely, serene images of home libraries, studies and cozy bedrooms stand in sharp contrast to my own hodge-podge of willy-nilly stashing of my books in nooks and crannies with such disarray that when I need to find one it is faster to search my online order history to verify for sure that I even own it before I go on the hunt.

There's an amusing/playful illustrated list of 35 Things To Do With All Those Books here

Ideally, the Most Appropriate Thing to do with books is to READ THEM.

To that end, I'm continuing to cut loose a portion of my personal collection so others can enjoy them too:

Many of the books above are one-of-a-kind, some are special publisher deals so a handful copies available. All are wonderful additions to your home library. Trust me, I know all about amassing a collection of awesome books.

Every book from HoofPrints comes with one of our own bookmarks, designed by me, and printed right here in central Indiana. They feature a fancy chainette tassel and are a customer favorite - lots of folks buy extras as gifts.

Celebrate National Book Lovers Day with some NEW BOOKS!

In case you missed it - HoofPrints has dozens of new titles!
