Juneteenth

Opportunities and Resources

Juneteenth is the oldest U.S. holiday commemorating the end of slavery. It marks June 19, 1865, the day Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to free the last enslaved African Americans – more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

The Donegal Presbytery Racial Justice Task Group invites you to participate in a Juneteenth event in your local area:

A Juneteenth Bible lesson for children is available HERE.

The Presbytery Office will be closed on Friday, June 19

to observe the Juneteenth holiday.
