The Penfield Players are happy to announce the return of our Winter Readers’ Theater. Yes! Our traditional Readers’ Theater is back! We will be reading Call My Dead Wife, a recently published play by local playwright Hilary Bluestein-Lyons under the direction of Jerry Argetsinger.

There will be two performances of the play at the Penfield Community Center in the Community Room. They are as follows:
  • Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, February 26 at 2 p.m.
This play is based loosely on the life of Almon Strowger who lived in Penfield, NY, circa 1890. It tells the story of Mr. Strowger who leaves New York to take over a mortuary in Kansas and, in the process, comes up with a revolutionary invention. While this play is loosely based on fact, it is a fun romp through inventions and chicanery. It has its serious side as well, as it deals with issues of loss and grief.
The show is free and open to the public. Donations will be gratefully accepted, and refreshments will be sold. More information can be found here.
