This Weekend,
We Celebrate 200 Years

Two hundred years.

Think about that for a moment.

In
1826, a small group of Methodists gathered in a young community called Perry. They could not have imagined us. They could not have pictured our sanctuary, our Family Life Center, our ministries, or the generations upon generations of people who would one day call this church home.

They simply gathered. They prayed. They worshiped. They trusted God with what came next.

And for 200 years, God has been faithful.

Through wars and depressions. Through seasons of tremendous growth and seasons of uncertainty. Through changing generations, changing communities, and a changing world, the people called Methodists in Perry have continued to gather around the same good news of Jesus Christ.

Children have been baptized here.

Couples have stood before God and promised their lives to one another.

Families have gathered to say goodbye to people they loved.

Sinners have found grace. The brokenhearted have found hope. Children have grown into adults and brought children of their own. People have answered calls to ministry and mission. Friendships have been formed. Lives have been changed.

And now
we get to be the generation standing at the 200-year mark.

This weekend is our moment to remember what God has done, celebrate what God is doing, and look with faith toward what God will do next.

Saturday: 200th Anniversary Street Party
4:00–7:00 PM

On Saturday afternoon, we're throwing a birthday party—and the whole community is invited!

Come ready for an afternoon of food, music, fun, laughter, children playing, old friends reconnecting, and new friends being welcomed.

This isn't just a party for those of us who are already part of Perry Methodist.

This is a party for Perry.

For 200 years, our story has been intertwined with the story of this community, and Saturday gives us an opportunity to open our doors, fill the street, and celebrate together.

Invite somebody. Bring your family. Call an old church friend. Come be part of it.

Sunday: 200th Anniversary Worship
9:00 & 11:00 AM

Then Sunday morning, we worship.

This will be much more than an anniversary program.

We are going to remember.

We are going to give thanks.

We are going to hear voices from our past and celebrate the people who have helped shape this church.

But most importantly,
we are going to worship the God who has carried this congregation through every one of these 200 years.

Imagine all the people who have worshiped on this ground before us. Imagine the prayers that have been prayed, the hymns that have been sung, the sermons that have been preached, the tears that have been shed, and the lives that have been offered to Christ.

For one Sunday, past and present come together—and then we turn our faces toward the future.

Because
200 years is not the finish line.

We honor those who came before us best not simply by remembering what they built, but by carrying forward the faith they entrusted to us.

AND Then… We Eat!

After the 11:00 AM worship service, we'll do something Methodists have been doing extraordinarily well for a very long time:

We'll gather around the table.

Bring a favorite dish to share and join us for a church-wide
covered dish lunch as we continue the celebration together.

There is something beautifully appropriate about ending this historic weekend around tables—telling stories, laughing together, seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and enjoying the community God has given us.

Perry Methodist Church is 200 years old.

Thousands of people came before us.

They prayed prayers they would never live to see answered.

They planted trees whose shade they would never sit beneath.

They built something they knew would have to be entrusted to generations they would never meet.

We are those generations.

And now it is our turn.

This weekend, let's fill the street.

Let's fill the sanctuary.

Let's fill the tables.

And above all,
let's give thanks to God for 200 extraordinary years—and step faithfully into whatever God has for Perry Methodist Church next.

I'll see you this weekend.

Grace and Peace,
