October at One.
Fall is definitely in the air in Maryland, and October brings a change in season, beautiful foliage, Physical Therapy Month, The World Series, Halloween, and maybe a little melancholy for some of us this year, knowing that we are heading into yet another season of indoor time during the Pandemic.
We hope that we can continue to provide a few bright spots among the mix for you and give you all a combination of the latest health updates, local news, and options for some safe outdoor activities around our area.
Read on and we hope to see you all virtually or in person soon!
Yours in Wellness,
Jennifer and Christina

What to Expect When you Enter One. Now
If you have not been to our office since March, there are some changes that One. has implemented for the next time you enter our office. Prior to arrival at the office, you will be sent a liability waver and/or a sign in sheet for services. Once completed, you will wait for the all clear for entry as our front door will remained locked for the forseeable future. Upon entering, masks are required, you will be asked to dispose of gloves at the door, wash or sanitize your hands upon entry, and your oxygen and temperature will be checked prior to admittance to the clinic. (ladies, please leave the middle finger of your dominant hand without nail polish so we can read your oxygen) Clients will check in and out at the front desk one at a time to avoid cross-contamination. Time will be taken in between clients to deep clean surfaces.
Upon check out, we will have you read your credit card number to eliminate the need of signing receipts, and receipts will be emailed to you to avoid contact.
We are still encouraging clients to continue to utilize telehealth and virtual training sessions as much as possible until we can allow our at risk clients to return to the clinic again safely.
While we can now also allow clients to enter for fitness sessions, masks are required for the duration of your time exercising in the clinic.
Remember, we are now utilizing state of the art Premier UV light filtration in our air handlers to keep all the air you breathe in our space, virus free.

The Capital Gazette, The Carroll County Times and the newspapers of Baltimore Sun Media are the region's most important sources of news that you can trust, and our journalists work hard every day to uncover the truth, demand accountability and tell you what you need to know to navigate your daily life.
Now, we need your help to save our papers so that our communities aren't left in the dark.
Across the nation, people are recognizing the vital role our newspapers play in our daily lives, our communities, our democracy. Join with people across our region and nationwide in calling for responsible ownership of Tribune Publishing newspapers.
Save local journalism.
Tribune has gutted our newsrooms. You get less news because of it, and our community suffers in ways both large and small.
But there’s a solution...
Why Locally Owned, Non-Profit Newspapers?
As non-profits, The Capital, The Carroll County Times and the newspapers of Baltimore Sun Media would join other legacy newspapers such as the Tampa Bay Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Salt Lake Tribune who continue to thrive.
Our local reporters, journalists, photographers, and office management teams will be able to do their jobs—and end the creeping reduction of coverage we’ve suffered for years. Our local papers will be able to continue to provide the features its audience relies on.
Most importantly, these newspapers will also remain our public watchdog, dedicated to exposing government injustice and corruption. Freed from the pressure of corporate demands to deliver profits to shareholders, we can focus on keeping state and local government accountable.
Save Local News
Tribune Publishing has consistently put the whims of the stock market and the thirst for payouts ahead of its newspapers’ essential function in our democracy.
Years of buying out and laying off journalists while continuing to pay dividends to shareholders have put the company’s newsrooms in the position of deciding what towns and topics are covered — or not covered.
Last year, Tribune Publishing executives opened the door to a vulture hedge fund, Alden Global Capital, known as the destroyer of newspapers. Alden buys papers, loads them with debt, lays off staff, sells off assets, milks them of cash, then leaves them to bleed out. Alden is poised to gain effective control of the company at the end of June.
We need your support. Stand with us and help to return The Capital, The Carroll County Times and the newspapers of Baltimore Sun Media to local ownership in central Maryland.

Advantages of Apple Cider Vinegar
|
|
You probably have heard about the health benefits of apple cider vinegar, here are a few you may not know about...
Weight Loss
To get the most obvious and well-known use of apple cider out of the way, I will address weight loss first. When taking small amounts of the vinegar a day, the acid activates your metabolism and help your body to use fat as a form of energy rather than storing your fat. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water and drink before or after your meals.
Get Clear Skin
Apple Cider Vinegar can help clear up your skin and prevent acne by drying out blemishes. The vinegar also works to regulate the pH levels in your skin to the perfect levels, leaving your skin between oily and dry. To take advantage of apple cider vinegar, dilute the vinegar in water to prevent it from irritating your skin. The best rule of thumb is to use one-part vinegar and four-parts water, but you can add more water if you have more sensitive skin. Use a washcloth to apply the diluted vinegar to your face. You can even use this new solution as a toner to remove excess dirt and bring back your skin’s natural glow.
Beat Bad Breath
Adding apple cider vinegar to your morning routine can chase off bad breath quickly. Make your own mouthwash with 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and a cup of water. Swish it around just like you would with regular mouthwash and spit it out after a few seconds. Doing this twice or three times a week will improve your breath in no time. The apple cider vinegar will kill the bacteria causing the bad breath.
Control Blood Sugar Levels
Whether you have diabetes, or just need help maintaining a healthy blood sugar level, try a shot of apple cider vinegar. A study showed that vinegar can improve insulin sensitivity during a high carb meal (Healthline). The study also showed that after 5 healthy people ate 50 grams of white bread, the vinegar reduced blood sugar by 31.4%. The best time to take the 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar is in a glass of water before meals or at bedtime.
Get Rid of Dandruff
Finally get rid of your dandruff or itchy scalp with the help of apple cider vinegar. Mix 1-3 tablespoons of the vinegar with warm water and pour it over your head after shampooing. Massage the mixture onto your scalp and let it sit for a few minutes before you rinse it out in the shower. Remember, apple cider vinegar has a strong smell, if you want, add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to mask the scent.

Here at Arundel Federal, we’re reminded just how lucky we are to be able to serve our great communities day in and day out. Blueberry-Cardamom Compote
|
|
This fruit sauce that you can add to oatmeal or Greek yogurt is an easy way to get both Blueberries and Cardamom into your diet.
Mix a pint of blueberries (fresh or frozen) with 1/4 teaspoon of maple syrup(or go without if you are concerned about sugar), 1/4 tsp cardamom, a splash of vanilla extract, and dash of Himalayan salt into a saucepan over medium heat until fruit starts to break down, add arrrowroot to thicken.
|
|
Did You Know?
Blueberries are high in flavonoids-powerful anti-inflammatory antioxidants that boost natural killer cells-the body's rapid response team against cancer cells and viruses. Cardamom is the one spice that actually boosts their activity. In a petri dish, natural killer cells could eliminate MORE cancer cells after cardamom was added.
