Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.

DAY FOUR
REFLECTION DAY

Congratulations! Today marks the conclusion of our learning journey's first segment - addressing standard definitions and general concepts surrounding racism and racial equity. Think back on what you've learned so far, look over any notes you've taken, revisit content from days 1 - 3, and dive deeper to think of how the concepts you've learned apply in your own life.

Register below for this evening's Equity Conversation, convened by United Way of Pierce County, to engage with other participants from around the region as we explore the reflection questions below for the 21-Day Equity Challenge.

Some questions to consider:

  • Were the concepts explored so far new to you?
  • What did you notice about your personal reactions while engaging with each day's materials? What do these reactions tell you about your experiences?
  • Looking at the community where you grew up or where you are currently living, what do you notice about how privilege and marginalization have shaped the community and your opportunities?
  • How often have you found yourself in social settings where the majority of individuals have been of a different race or ethnicity?
  • When you hear people in your circles making biased comments, do you speak up?
