Ms. Catherine's Thoughts for January

It's finally here. The moment we've been waiting for! The moment we've spent weeks learning songs and dances and lines. The costumes. The backdrops. The lights. So FUN!

This is such a great process: to want to do something, sign-up for it, work on it, and to see it through to the end!

Very likely there will be some nervous folks and that is normal. I tell the students that nervous and excited are the same thing, it's just our mind that decides which one it is. Being genuinely nervous is just fine. It sharpens the mind and quickens the body's responses. It might also be a friendly warning to memorize lines every day! Facing that fear and doing it anyway builds self-confidence. (That is a super important point!). Facing your fear and pushing through makes you trust your ability to overcome obstacles. It builds confidence in yourself. You become more resilient and trust your ability in other situations that demand more from you. What a great thing!

At the end of the show there is a natural disappointment that it is over. That's where the "Red Carpet Cast Viewing" comes in! (aka: The Cast Party). The week after the shows, we meet again during our regular class locations and times and watch the show as a cast. Sometimes students launch into dancing and singing along!

I look forward for you, the parents, to see what we've been working on! Bring your joyous spirit and get ready to clap and cheer like never before!
