ADVOCATE - with County Executive Pittman, the County Council, the Dept. of Rec and Park

Millersville Park Tennis Center to be Eliminated from FY23 Budget

Update: County Executive Pittman has abandoned the Millersville Park Tennis Center project after 8 years of approvals, studies, a secured site, and construction funding.

The County released its 5-Year plan, the Draft 2022 LPRRP, which eliminates the Millersville Park tennis project. Despite the overwhelming number of emails from the tennis community in protest, there are no plans for Mr. Pittman and his Rec and Park Department to change their decision.

A new reduced tennis project, "Indoor Tennis Center" is listed in the Draft 2022 LPRRP under "Land Aquisition" projects. The process of finding, procuring and approving a site takes years and effectively makes the Indoor Tennis Center project a LOW PRIORITY.

EMAIL -
County Executive Pittman as well as your council member and each of the 6 other Council members to express the urgent need for a public tennis center in Anne Arundel County.

A tennis center is a countywide project that all council members will need to support in the future.

Our neighboring counties have 18 indoor tennis centers offering public programming and courts, Anne Arundel County has none.
