VENDOR OF THE WEEK:
Cabbage Throw Farm
Last week shoppers voted Cabbage Throw Farm their favorite vendor of the week. Emily Stocker and Dean Buttacavoli are new farmers who are quickly making their mark at EFM. They are always surrounded by their super-supportive family (their groupies) who proudly peruse the market clad in Cabbage Throw t-shirts. And about that name... it turns out Buttacavoli actually means "cabbage thrower" in Italian!

Stop by the EFM info tent this week and pick up your free Local Loyalty Shopping List pad. At the end of the day, enter your list in our monthly prize drawing and you could win $50 in Market Tokens. And don't forget to vote for your favorite vendor!

FROM THE FIELD
Phillips Farm
Strawberry Central!
Join in the Strawberry Day excitement this weekend with delicious local strawberries from Phillips Farms. Strawberries are now in peak season, which means the juicy ripe berries are at their best. Don’t miss out, they won’t be around much longer.

Also available at Phillips Farms this weekend are those rare items only found at local farmers markets: fresh Spring Garlic and Garlic Scapes! And an Easton Farmers' Market first... tender English shelling peas (already shelled)! Top these with a pat of cultured butter from Valley Milkhouse and you'll be in veggie heaven!
Scholl Orchards
Veggies are picking up steam at Scholl Orchard as their tables become more abundant each week. Look for beautiful heads of cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower, sugar snap and snow peas and the asparagus continues... get it while you still can!

Cherries are coming soon, but for now there are still plenty of apples and pears.
Cabbage Throw Farm
In case you missed it last week, Cabbage Throw Farm will have broccoli and broccoli rabe for the last time this season (until fall)!

New arrivals to the table this week include escarole, frisée and romaine.

In celebration of Strawberry Day, Cabbage Throw Farm has tossed together a delicious Strawberry salad recipe using their spring mix. The spring salad mix is made up of 5 of their favorite lettuce heads. Make sure to stop over at their neighboring tent, Comeback Orchard for a pint or two of Organic Strawberries. Top off your salad with a delicious cheese from Valley Milkhouse and a quick red wine vinaigrette!
Comeback Orchards
Organic Strawberries
Strawberry Fest wouldn't be Strawberry Fest without strawberries, right? ( Farmer Pete still dreams of Brussels Sprouts fest). Organic strawberries are in at Comeback Orchards and tasting great. Peter is still picking Earliglo, the farm favorite. It's a replants year for the strawberry beds at Comeback, so the crop is small and a little late, get there early, these sold out super early last week.

NOTE: Farmer Pete planted 4,000 strawberry plants last fall and the Voles ate 3,500 this winter. He replanted 3,500 this spring. :-(

FLOWER POWER
Holy Cow Farm
Jenn & Bryan will have the last of their big, beautiful Spring foxglove this week and the start of the Asiatic Lilies. Summery flowers are on the horizon very soon and that means a "build-your-own-bouquet" station at EFM!
Backyard Growers
The new items this week will include: canna, perennial salvia (rose colored flowers), and gaura (white flowers).

Gaura is a native of the western gulf coast, mainly Texas. It produces strings of white flowers (blooming from the bottom up) on thin stems that tend to wave in the breeze. As a result, gaura is sometimes called wandflower. It grows best in well drained soil (doesn't like to be wet) in full sun, and oddly, does better in poor soil than in rich soil. It is drought tolerant and more importantly, deer resistant!
Pheasant Hill Farm
Pheasant Hill Farm will have some pretty calla lily bouquets this week, along with Asiatic lily bouquets with regular and chantilly snapdragons, alliums and more.
Don’s PorTch Tea offerings will feature the gems of the season.
