Giving Hope and Time
Dear Friends:

It's finally summer and things sure have been heating up here! Lazarex is finally getting recognition as a patient advocacy organization. This month we presented at 2 industry oncology conferences, ASCO and Bio 2019, as
a panelist for patient assistance for clinical trial participation. We've been referenced in other presentations multiple times, and directly acknowledged at public events. We held our 2nd professional and congressional roundtables in Washington DC to discuss making cancer research more accessible to ALL patients. We were successful in getting Texas bill HB 3147 passed and then signed into law by Governor Abbott. Texas is the 3rd state (joining CA & PA) to provide legislation to help all cancer patients to access cutting-edge medical advancements. We are currently in discussion with pharmaceutical companies about funding for future Lazarex IMPACT sites, including Penn Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia. And Lazarex has been in the news 11 times, just in June! Check out our News & Events page for more info.

As a result of getting "on the radar" we are receiving a high number of new requests for financial assistance, outpacing our very diligent fundraising efforts. We adjust the number of new patients we accept in a month so that we can reserve the funds we need for the 324 patients that we are currently assisting through the Lazarex CARE program. This does create a backlog and advanced stage cancer patients don't often have the luxury of time. It's also hard on our staff. This will continue until we can secure a larger flow of funds from sponsorship or grants for Lazarex CARE, which is why your continued support is so crucial and deeply appreciated. Please consider becoming a monthly donor to help provide a steady source of funding for the patients we serve.

Lastly, as part of our ongoing fundraising for our patient program services, we are in the planning stages of our "Treasure the Moments" gala to be held on Saturday, September 21st, at Garré Vineyard & Winery in Livermore, CA. It's beautiful there in the fall. You can register, learn more, or look at sponsorship opportunities by visiting lazarex.org.

We are deeply grateful for your support along way.Together we will continue to work towards our vision that everyone affected by cancer will have hope, dignity, support and the most advanced treatments made available to them at all stages of their journey.

Warmest Regards,

Very Important Patient Updates:
Jackie's Story

Four years ago Jackie was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer and given 20 months to live. Today, the advanced treatment she’s receiving in a clinical trial is saving her life, and the help she receives from Lazarex allows her to stay in the trial.

Jackie flew to DC, on her way to Boston for her treatment, to participate in the Lazarex roundtable to spread the message about how patient reimbursements and engagement are key. A key to hope. A key to life.

"I cherish every moment with my grandkids and my daughters. And I get that opportunity because the help from Lazarex allows me to continue receiving treatment in my clinical trial." Jackie H.
