Dear Friends of The Blue Purl,

We never try to wish the minutes away, because you can never get them back. Time is our most precious, perishable resource.

But what happens when time seems to slow down, and get kind of blurry? We all feel it because of the way the pandemic has impacted our lives.

Quick, what day is it?

See! It’s ThursFriday March 171 (that is the number of days since closings started in NJ. on March 16.)

So what to do with that?
Well, what would you expect us to suggest?

Our prescription: Make something! Knit. Crochet. Work with your hands. Focus on a project. Learn something! Take a class with us on zoom.

These days, the trouble is we have lost the arc of our own stories. There is not always a beginning, middle and an end to the days. Our worlds are circumscribed by our need to protect ourselves and our community from the virus.

But when we work with our hands, it all comes back. Our story comes back. From inception to completion, a project can focus you, ground you and lift you up all at the same time.

We believe that.
It’s why we got into this business.
It is why we persevere.
It’s why we never wish the days away. Time is here for us to use—wisely. To use together.

Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone! Enjoy!

What's New?
Tynn Silk Mohair
Our latest yarn by Sandnes Garn is Tynn Silk Mohair. Why did we pick Sandnes Garn's mohair? It's a wonderful combination of mohair, silk and wool, offering warmth & strength while also being light as a cloud, all at a great value. Tynn Silk Mohair can be held with other yarns to make the fluffiest hand knits or it can be held double on its own. The gorgeous saturated colors speaks for itself. Try it for the Cumulus Blouse if you're joining our class or just knitting along.

The Pemberton Pullover is a textured unisex sweater worked in Woolstok. The Lauderdale sweater is both an airy & warm top worked in Extra. The Seven Sisters Top is one of our favorites from the summer, worked in Organic Printed Cotton. The Holland Wrap is Wendy's favorite WIP right now, using Extra. The Worthington Wrap is perfect for advanced beginners to practice basic stitches while working on a textured wrap in Organic Cotton and Organic Printed Cotton.

Bias Shawl Kit
Our newest kit this week is the Bias Shawl made in Shibui Pebble and Silk Cloud. This light weight scarf/wrap uses Shibui Pebble held with Silk Cloud to give a fluffy warm feel with fun stripes throughout. Small panels of pretty lace are strategically placed between the stripes to highlight the beautiful Pebble yarn texture. We have a very limited number of kits in 4 color sets available online.
Baah September 2020 color is here!

Tibetan Cloud by mYak
We are so excited to bring this yarn into the Blue Purl. Tibetan Cloud by mYak is a 328 yard, Sport/ Light DK weight of 100% Tibetan sheep wool, ethically sourced and traceable back to the flock. "It comes exclusively from an ancient breed of Tibetan sheep that roam freely on the grassland of the Tibetan Plateau at an altitude of over 4000 mt." Learn more about the care of these animals and its caretakers here. We can't wait to see the beautiful pieces this yarn becomes.
We immediately thought of Jennifer Weissman's Shh! Wrap when we saw Tibetan Cloud. The elegant muted colors and stitch definition of this yarn is a perfect match for the sweet center lace detail and drape of this wrap. AND...Jennifer is kindly offering a special coupon just for Blue Purl customers, 25% off the Shh! Wrap pattern with code BLUEPURL when you purchase it in Ravelry.

Note: Shh! Wrap pattern sale exclusive to Blue Purl expires Sept. 5th!

You can find Tibetan Cloud in our online shop. Call/email to schedule time to check this out in person.
Sindi Cowl Kit
Sindi is luxuriously soft cowl knit in the round holding 1 strand of Shibui Nest with 2 strands of Silk Cloud. Shibui Nest is a DK weight wool/alpaca blend that we brought into the shop early this year right before the pandemic. It never really got its day in the sun but this Shibui kit really shows off its softness and beauty. The gradient effect is achieved by changing 1 strand of silk cloud every few inches. This cowl is like wearing a warm cloud around your neck. The pattern is free from us with purchase of the kit.
Lichen & Lace Fingering is back!
Fresh out of Canada, we re-stocked our Lichen and Lace Single-ply fingering! There's some favorites that flew off our shelves quickly last time and we picked a few new colors for the Fall too. Check them out in our online shop.

In case you need a fabulous sweater idea for these gorgeous colors, Tam's current obsession is the Sayuri Sweater. The pattern is on sale until Sept. 5th, no code needed.
