This is a false move. Resistance is not only futile but here’s the heads up – when you argue with reality you will lose 100% of the time. It is, as that old passive aggressive line goes, what it is.
But the great news is that it’s OK to do little, to rest and to recuperate without guilt or pushback.
Now, I know I am in the minority in being someone who loves winter in all it’s freezing, grim soggy glory. As a confident introvert this time for slow, quiet reflection suits me fine. Summer to me is like an eager, gleeful and slightly annoying puppy that demands attention action and frisbee slinging fun cultivating a need to lie down with a flannel over the eyes.
Wave the White Flag
Surrender is superpower right now if you’re struggling. Give in and find joy in doing little. This is the time for planning and reflection. It’s boxsets and books, jigsaws and comfort food and seeing friends over cheery glasses of red or steaming coffees and pastries.
Don’t snitch on me but not many coaches will tell you this on insta but it’s time to hunker and not hanker for the big prizes right now.
Wellbeing is often a byword for punitive measures, deprivation and pain. It can leave you cold in every sense. Try the line of least resistance for now.
Trust me, you will feel better if you stopped complaining about the weather as it creates a futile doom loop. Choose, instead, to see the subtle beauty in it (take an awe walk and find wonder in the small details) and concentrate on the stillness and peace of the now.
There is solace in slow growth. Just like the dear bulbs resting under the cold, wet soil know there is a time to push through and emerge. So know that you too will have your time to bloom and if you are struggling to do it now accept that your time to shine will have its own season. Time now to patiently wait for it.
