Creativity Station programs got off to a great start with Winter Camp kicking off bright and early on Tuesday, January 2
. Approximately 50 children, from ages 8-18 attended JA Spark, JA BizCamp, and Stream
. The Marina Event Center was an exciting center of activity as the children wrote job descriptions, completed applications, performed interviews, and ran their businesses. Some were especially excited to learn about checks, debit and credit cards.
The Spark kids developed business plans and presented their pitches before a select panel. Ideas for their businesses included a vegan bakery, a digital media company where a percentage of the profits go back to the community, and apparel with unique, one-of-a kind designs. The Stream
kids had a blast at Microsoft where they gained an introduction to coding, digital media literacy, etc. At the Center for Creative Education, it was photography; and at the WPB Police Dept., it was digitized training and simulation. They met with engineers at FPL and learned about the NextEra Energy Plant and the manatees.
