WHAT'S NEW
Picturing Women Inventors
As part of Women's History Month at the Library, we are honored to share with you Picturing Women Inventors, a digital exhibit presented by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. Throughout American history, women with diverse backgrounds and interests have created inventions that change lives every day. But women haven’t always had equal opportunities to be inventors or received as much recognition. Learn about the inventions of 19 highly accomplished American women. Astronauts, computer pioneers, and businesswomen join athletes, engineers, and even teenagers in this remarkable group of inventors. View the exhibit during the month of March here. Want to learn more about women who changed the world? Check out our Women’s History Month reading lists for kids and adults.
Veterans Resource Bags
Have you or a family member served in the US military? Ask for a Veterans Resource bag during our Curbside Service hours at the Downtown Library, no appointment necessary. Each bag contains copies of the latest CalVet handbook and information about local resources that can help connect veterans and their families with the state and federal benefits that may be available to them. Veterans Connect @ the Library is provided in partnership with the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), the California State Library, and the Institute of Museum and Library Studies.  Learn more here.
