Thursday, April 30 @ 5:00 PM in the Chapel

As part of MVUUF’s strategic planning for our future, in coming months the board will likely create a task force to explore reparations. The board recommends participation in the Unitarian Universalist Association’s free online discussion on Reparations as preparation for all MVUUF congregants, especially those who might serve on a task force.

So, please, join us for pizza and fellowship as we watch the UUA's online discussion hosted by UUA President the Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt and featuring three distinguished guests. It’s free! And, childcare will be provided!

To attend at MVUUF, we recommend you RSVP by April 29th by using the button below (this will help us honor dietary restrictions and ensure we have plenty for all). If you don’t get a chance to RSVP, please join us anyway. We would love for every MVUUF person to experience this program!

Can't join the watch party but still plan to attend the discussion online? Register for the online program using the button below. Also use this button to learn more about this program.

Questions about MVUUF's April 30 watch party? Please contact CQ.

Looking Ahead

While the focus of our weekly eBlast is "The week ahead," the release schedule for our monthly newsletter - The Forum - sometimes makes it so we have to use the eBlast to spotlight events and opportunities further out on our calendar, lest they be missed. This is one of those times.

THIS SUNDAY

As part of this service, we are asking that you bring with you a small amount of dirt from a spot that is special to you; a place where you find peace, your power, your joy. Maybe from a garden, a playground, a hiking trail...maybe from the resting place of someone or something you loved.

LAST SUNDAY

Joys & Sorrows

A Joy

Last Sunday, Lynn shared immense joy at the marriage of her son, Jonathan, to his now wife, Marian. Let us celebrate with Lynn, Don, and their whole family!

A Prayer

This prayer by Julián Jamaica Soto was shared last Sunday...

When your heart falls and your

soul weeps at the outbreak of

yet another war, remember this:

you are not alone, either in grief

or in rising up. We are together as

a choir, singing an unbroken song

of peace. When the death of

schoolgirls floods your body with

anger that is unable to be soothed,

you are not wrong. Reach out. We

are here to witness and resist. Part

of the system and yet we never,

not ever comply in advance. Lift

your spine, relax your jaw, lower

your tongue from the roof of your

mouth; we still have truth to speak.

Let your feet fall heavy on the Earth.

She will hold you. War is intentional

breaking of the net that holds Us all.

We refuse. We reject it. And hearts

awash in a sea of tears and fury, we

bring them beating, bare and brave

To this day. And now we all are called:

to craft a peace that holds every (single)

one, ancestors who did more with less,

bless us.

May we know that our joys and sorrows are part of the sacred circle of life. May we be grateful for the Love that binds us to one another and will not let us go.

The joys and sorrows shared here are shared with expressed permission.

Story for All Ages

Last Sunday's Story for All Ages was The Courage of the Little Hummingbird by Leah Henderson (Author), and Magaly Morales (Illustrator).

You can purchase it by clicking on the button below to find a seller. As part of our commitment to justice and equity, we encourage everyone to shop Black-owned bookstores (like Elizabeth's Bookshop and Writing Centre in Akron OH, which is both Black-owned and LGBTQIA+ owned).

If a Black-owned store doesn't have it, try to find it locally; and if you can't find it to purchase, please try your local library.
