Comprehensive Water Ban in Effect

Use Water Wisely

Until further notice, a comprehensive level 4 water conservation ban, is in effect for the City of Parksville. This change is a result of little to no rain forecast in the region for the coming weeks, continued drought conditions, and maintaining in-stream environmental flow requirements in the Englishman River. The City’s priority is to ensure a high-quality water supply for our residents and the necessary water use for fire safety and in-stream flow needs. 

LEVEL 4 WATER CONSERVATION

Level 4 helps to ensure the community’s essential water needs for drinking water, hygiene and fire protection are met, and water flows for fish and aquatic habitats are maintained. Level 4 aims to reduce the pressure on surface water and groundwater sources vulnerable to ongoing drought.

Outdoor watering

All lawn watering activities are not permitted. Vegetable gardens and fruit trees are exempt from restrictions. Between 7 am and 10 am OR 7 pm and 10 pm, drip irrigation or micro irrigation and hand watering of gardens is permitted using a hand-held container or a hose equipped with shutoff device.

Washing of vehicles, RVs, boats, and buildings, filling of pools

Between 7 and 10 am OR 7 and 10 pm on assigned watering days, vehicles, RVs and boats may be washed using a hand-held container or hose equipped with shutoff nozzle. Washing of exterior building surfaces is not allowed UNLESS prior to application of paint, preservative, stucco, or sealant. Filling of swimming pools, wading pools, hot tubs, and garden pond water features is not permitted.

Parksville Votes 2026

All voters will register on the day of voting, at either advance voting or on general voting day. When arriving to vote, you will be required to provide two pieces of identification; one containing your name and address, the other containing your name and signature. If you do not have documentation showing residency, then two pieces of identification (with at least one with a signature) are still required and you will need to make a "solemn declaration" to confirm your residency.

Non-resident property owner information

If you are voting as a non-resident property owner, the property must be in the name(s) of individuals and not in the name of a company. If you own property in the City of Parksville, but live somewhere else in British Columbia, you may be eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector if you:

• Are a Canadian citizen; AND
• Are, or will be, 18 years of age or older (October 17, 2008) on or before general voting day; AND
• Have lived in BC for at least 6 months (as of April 16, 2026) prior to registration; AND
• Have owned the property in the City of Parksville for at least 30 days before you register to vote (as of September 16, 2026); AND
• You must not be eligible to register as a resident elector in the City of Parksville; AND
• Are not disqualified from voting by the Local Government Act or any other act.

In addition to two pieces of acceptable identification, non-resident property electors must bring the following with them to vote: proof of ownership in the form of a tax notice, assessment notice or other legal documentation proving property ownership, such as a bill of sale issued prior to September 16. Non-resident property electors can only vote once, regardless of the number of properties they own in the City of Parksville.

New Pickleball Courts

The City’s will convert the existing tennis court in Parksville Community Park into four dedicated pickleball courts which will also include fencing upgrades. Construction is underway and expected to be completed near the end of July, weather dependent.

The existing pickleball courts will remain open during construction; however, short-term closures may be required. Please be advised that construction activity may result in noise, debris and water affecting the existing courts. Users enter and play at their own risk. For your safety, we ask you to respect all posted signage, stay out of closed construction areas, and follow any direction provided by City staff or the contractor performing the work. Canada Day 2026, It’s a Wrap

The third annual City-hosted Canada Day celebrations were a success, with great attendance by the community. Please watch our Canada Day Facebook page for photos. REMINDERS AND THINGS TO KNOW...

Tax and Utility Payments Made Easier and More Convenient - We offer Preauthorized Withdrawal Service or PAWS, a plan which allows taxpayers to contribute a fixed monthly payment towards their taxes and/or utilities bills based on an estimate of future amounts. Taxpayers can use PAWS if taxes are not being paid through a bank or mortgage company and there is no outstanding balance. The program is designed to help homeowners with easier budgeting for both property taxes and utility bills. Program info and how to apply on our website. Fall grant-in-aid program deadline is 4 pm, August 31. Non-profit organizations in the arts, cultural, recreational, or social services fields are eligible to apply. Info on program, policy, instructions, and application may be obtained from City Hall or from the website.

Food Trucks in Parksville Community Park - We’re excited to manage the food trucks again this year through September 30 from 11 am to 7 pm daily. About one week ahead, the schedule for the coming month is posted to the website and social media. We hope you will check out the great selection of trucks this year.
