Regardless of your method, payment must be received at the City of Parksville by the due date of Thursday, July 2 or be subjected to an immediate 5% penalty. An additional 5% penalty will be applied to current year property taxes outstanding at the end of business on September 15. Penalties are also applied to any unclaimed homeowner grants.

Online and Telephone Banking
Most financial institutions offer pay-by-phone or online banking services. Your bank account needs to be setup to conduct online transactions. Contact your bank for details. On your bank's website, log into your account and follow these steps:
- Go to Pay Bills
- Select Add Payee
- Search “Parksville”
- Click Search to view the full list of available payees.
- Select the payee name that relates to the City of Parksville property tax or utility notice.
- Enter an account number.

Payments by Credit Card
Credit cards may be used to pay for business licences, bylaw infraction tickets and comfort letters. Follow these steps when paying online by Visa or MasterCard. Credit card payments may also be made in-person at City Hall for these fees only.

HOW TO PAY YOUR PROPERTY TAXES
- In-person, online or by telephone through your financial institution. Do not wait until the due date to pay through your financial institution. Payments made through your bank which are received by the City of Parksville after the due date are subject to penalty. Online payments made on the due date may have a transaction date of the following day and will be considered late. The City recommends making online payments a minimum of two days prior to the due date.
- In-person at City of Parksville by debit, cheque or cash.
- Set up payment through your bank or mortgage company to pay on your behalf.
- Through OptionPay system (with applicable third-party fees).

Pre-Authorized Withdrawal Service (PAWS) - PAWS is a preauthorized withdrawal plan which allows taxpayers to contribute a fixed monthly payment towards their taxes and/or utilities.

Province of BC Homeowner Grant - The homeowner grant reduces the amount of property tax you pay for your principal residence. Homeowner grants must be claimed through the Province of BC.

Province of BC Property Tax Deferment Program - The property tax deferment program is a loan program which helps qualified BC homeowners pay their annual property taxes on their principal residence.

Parksville Local Government Election 2026
Parksville Votes 2026
You may vote in the Parksville municipal election as a resident elector if you meet all these requirements; it does not matter if you rent or own your own home.
- You are a Canadian citizen; AND
-
You are or will be 18 years of age or more (October 17, 2008) on or before general voting day; AND
-
You have lived in BC for at least 6 months (as of April 16, 2026) prior to registration; AND
-
You have lived in or have owned property in Parksville for at least 30 days (as of September 16, 2026) prior to registration; AND
-
You are not disqualified from voting by the Local Government Act or any other act.

When arriving to vote, you will be required to provide two pieces of identification; one containing your name and address, the other containing your name and signature. If you do not have documentation showing residency, then two pieces of identification (with at least one with a signature) are still required and you will be required to make a "solemn declaration" as to your residency.
Election information will be posted regularly to Let’sTalkParksville.ca/election-2026 as well as this page through to the election on October 17.

Level 3 Outdoor Water Conservation Now in Effect
Water conservation Level 3 is in effect until further notice. The change to Level 3 is primarily driven by unseasonably warm and dry weather and low snowpack on Vancouver Island. Snowpack is currently critically low, sitting at about 20 percent of normal seasonal average.

Limiting water usage now will help prevent enhanced restrictions throughout the summer. During dry summer months which can lead to a significant increase in water demand, water conservation measures are implemented to manage the high demand. Level 3 allows the City to maintain essential drinking water, hygiene and firefighting capabilities. Limiting non-essential uses like lawn watering, will help to ensure sufficient flow for fish.
Level 3 offers some flexibility for residents to decide where and how to cut back on water use wherever possible. In Level 3, sprinkler watering of lawns is allowed one day per week. Vegetable gardens and fruit trees are exempt from all water conservation levels as are businesses which require water for operations, essential municipal sports fields and nurseries. 2025 Annual Report - City’s annual report available for review here, will be formally presented to Council on June 15. Comments are welcome and info on our website.
Permissive Tax Exemptions - Under the provisions of the Community Charter, Council may exempt land and/or improvements from municipal property taxes for the next calendar year, subject to certain requirements which in general, restrict exemption to non-profit organizations using the lands for specific non-profit purposes. Application deadline 4 pm, June 30. Details, form and policy may be obtained from City Hall or website.
Food Trucks in Parksville Community Park - We’re excited to manage the food trucks again this year from May 1 to September 30 from 11 am to 7 pm daily. About one week ahead, the schedule for the coming month is posted to the website and social media. We have a great selection of trucks this year.
E-Bike and E-Scooter share - Booked through an EVO app, e-bikes and e-scooters are now in Parksville. The new zero-emission transportation service in partnership with Evolve offers residents and visitors a fun, affordable and sustainable way to move around the City. After a free sign-up, members use the app to find the nearest e-bike and book it by selecting a pin or scanning a bike’s QR code, starting and ending each trip at the push of a button.
