Sean Hughes, Industry Colleague and Friend, Passes Away at 44
|
|
Our deepest condolences to the Hughes and Coach USA families for the passing of friend and colleague Sean Hughes, Coach USA's Vice President of Government Affairs. Sean was an advocate for our industry and served on the GNJMA Legislative Committee. He played a huge role in securing the $2B in CERTS grant funding. We will miss him greatly.
In his spare time, Sean spent time and resources working with the Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians in such endeavors as the Media Director for the annual Army Tank Pull Competition to aids veterans, Project Children to aid children effected by the Troubles in Northeast Ireland and raising money to support families suffering food insecurity. Hughes was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and Past NJ State President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Sean, an entrepreneur from an early age was both a business and community leader and the recipient of numerous business and fraternal leadership awards for his efforts. Sean's services were held last week in Clifton, NJ. You can read his obituary here.

As of February 7, 2022, the FMCSA has implemented new regulations with a new training and certification process.

Anthony Griffith, from A.W. Griffith Transportation, was revealed as the 2022 UMA Grand Champion of the International Driver Competition this year. Prevost and Lancer Insurance were the principal sponsors of the event.

We are happy to offer our members two online sessions with Peter Chandler, Team Leader of the Passenger Carrier Safety Division of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration facilitating.
The first webinar scheduled April 5, 2022 is geared toward dispatchers, operational staff, managers and owners. The second webinar scheduled April 12, 2022 is geared for drivers.
