Bailey Coach Celebrates Independence Day Early With Flag Photo Contest

Northeast Charter and Tour Co. in the News
GNJMA member, Northeast Charter and Tour Co. expects this year to have half the business it would have had before the pandemic, said Scott Riccio, owner. Spring school trips never materialized, summer camps aren’t planning big outings and cruise ships, whose passengers in autumn help round out the year, aren’t scheduling stops. Intermittent bookings for weddings or group travel fill the gap, but don’t bring in enough to get his company up to full strength. Read more...

Trans-Bridge Lines Donates Bus to the
Museum of Bus Transportation
GNJMA member, Trans-Bridge Lines recently had the honor and privilege to donate a bus to the Museum of Bus Transportation in Hershey, PA.

Bus 50 was dedicated to the museum on Saturday, June 5, and was presented by Brendan Stanczyk, Safety and Training Supervisor for Trans-Bridge Lines during the museum’s Spring Fling event. Read the press release

Pion, Nerone, Girman, Winslow & Smith, PC Paper on NJ Court Decision of Hassan v. Williams and ABF Freight  
On April 13, 2021, the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division rendered a decision in the matter of Hassan v. Williams and ABF Freight, Inc., No. A-3336-18, 2021 WL 1380211 (N.J. App. Div. 2021) which is likely to have far-reaching evidentiary implications in future commercial motor vehicle accident lawsuits in New Jersey.

Mike McDonal Receives ABA's Prestigious Safety Award

IMPORTANT UPDATE! GNJMA Membership Renewal + Refer-A-Friend Promotion
On June 24th, GNJMA President, Tim Stout sent an important update to the June 16th communication about the September 1st GNJMA Membership renewal.

During our June Board of Director's meeting, the Board decided to move our fiscal year and synch our membership year to that date.

Therefore, when you renew this September, your membership will be good until 12/31/22. That's 16 months of membership for the annual price. Add this to the free membership year for the current term, that equates to a huge value.

Some action items from his communication:

  1. Please review the information we have on file by reviewing your member profile in the 2021 Membership Directory or via the Member Portal online at www.gnjma.com. You will need your log-in credentials. You can make your changes online or you can complete this form and return to us.
  2. Until August 15th, we are offering a Refer-A-Friend promotion. If you Refer-A-Friend who joins by August 15th, you will receive $50 off of your September 1st renewal. Here is a link you can share with your "friends" to learn more about membership, or you can simply refer them to us.
  3. If you would like to pay your membership dues early via credit card, please call Pattie Cowley at the number below, or complete this credit card authorization form.
GNJMA Legislative Committee in Action
On May 6th, a coalition of state and regional motorcoach association sent a letter to Secretary Pete Buttigieg voicing our concerns for the Union Station Redevelopment Project at Union Station, Washington, D.C. The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) responded favorably via a return letter.
On June 21st, GNJMA sent a letter to Senator Joseph Lagana and Congressman Josh Gottheimer regarding the Congestion Toll for NJ from NY.
Tomorrow is the Deadline to Submit Scholarship Apps!
The Scholarship program was developed to promote the higher education goals of our members, their employees, and their families, whether it be to pursue a college degree or a trade certification.

Due to COVID, GNJMA planned the board-hosted Annual Sponsor Appreciation Dinner for a different time and place, in June on a boat. This normally is held at our Spring Association Meeting. A great time was had by all.

CERTS Portal is Open!
The Department of Treasury has opened the application portal for the CERTS program. Motorcoach operators interested in applying for a CERTS grant should review the following documents. 

The CERTS portal will be open for applications through July 19, 2021. To be considered for a CERTS grant, an application must be completed, electronically signed, and submitted through the portal by 11:59 PM ET on July 19. After the deadline, the portal will not accept new applications, and users will not be able to finish draft applications in the portal.

Accessing the CERTS Portal: To gain access to the CERTS portal and submit an application, a company representative must first register with a username and password through the ID.me identity service.

Operation Safe Driver Week Set for July 11-17
During Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement personnel will be on the lookout for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in risky driving behaviors in or around a commercial motor vehicle. Identified unsafe drivers will be pulled over and issued a citation or warning. Get more information.
Brake Safety Week Set for August 22-28
During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors emphasize the importance of brake systems by conducting inspections and removing commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations from our roadways.
