Greyhound Canada To Cut All Bus Routes
Greyhound Canada is permanently cutting all bus routes across the country, shutting down the intercity bus carrier’s operations in Canada after nearly a century of service. Greyhound Lines, Inc., will continue to operate cross-border routes to Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver once the border reopens. ABC Highlights GMC 'Freedom Ride' Replica
GNJMA Gold Sponsor, ABC Companies' MN Team refurbished a 1957 GMC Freedom Ride replica for the Alabama Historical Commission Freedom Rides Museum. The project started in July of 2019 with an official completion date of April 2021.  After 4,500 hours, the completely refurbished 41 passenger bus with a 671 GM diesel 2 stroke engine and Spicer 4 speed manual transmission is in route to Alabama. It will be unveiled at the museum this May in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Freedom Riders.

GNJMA Co-Signed Letter to Pete Buttigieg Regarding the Union Station, Washington D.C. Redevelopment Project
Twenty-two state, regional and other motorcoach associations co-signed a letter addressed to Secretary Pete Buttigieg. We voiced our concerns regarding the Union Station, Washington D.C. Redevelopment Project and we encouraged Pete and his team to include more than 60 bus slips for motorcoaches for visits to our Capitol.  Read the letter.
CERTS ACT Update
We received welcome news when the U.S. Department of the Treasury recently released guidance on the Coronavirus Economic Relief for Transportation Services (CERTS) Act grant program. It is the first measurable step forward since the law was signed by then-President Donald Trump late last year, after six months of ceaseless lobbying efforts.  Find out more and what should be doing now to get ready from our friends at UMA.

Masks Available; Updated Guidance
  • We have a few boxes of masks available for distribution. They are the same white, cloth masks we distributed last year. Each box has 500 masks in each. Please let us know if you're interested in a box. We will ask you to cover the shipping cost.

Get to know a little more about Yvette Waananen. She began her career in the cruise industry, working for Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) in New York City. She then held various roles in the Financial, Insurance, and Telecommunication industries. She and Pattie Cowley have worked together for 20 years. Yvette is the Membership & Event Coordinator, and does a great job!

National Associations Programs - Both Start Next Week!
ABA's BISC Virtual Safety & Maintenance Series: Their in-person summer meetings were canceled, so they have put together a multi-week program starting this month, of safety, security, and maintenance-related education sessions to help keep you up to date on emerging things in the industry as well as refreshers of some things you may have forgotten. They also have added a number of interactive roundtables, so that operators can educate other operators and share their experiences. You do not need to be an ABA member to participate. This annual event is normally held during our Spring Association event, which was sadly canceled. Operation Safe Driver Week Set for July 11-17
During Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement personnel will be on the lookout for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in risky driving behaviors in or around a commercial motor vehicle. Identified unsafe drivers will be pulled over and issued a citation or warning. Get more information.
