January 14 Marked a Milestone for Trans-Bridge Lines

PBA Member, Trans-Bridge Lines recently posted to their Facebook "We began operating service between the Lehigh Valley area and New York back in 1982! This year marks 41 years of service, and we look forward to many more years of providing vital transportation to our passengers!" Congratulations on your milestone!

Daimler Buses Increased Sales Volumes of 28% in 2022

In 2022, PBA Member, Daimler Truck increased its sales – in all segments – by 14.2%, from 455,445 in 2021 to 529,291 last year (+64,846 units). The performance of Daimler Buses was particularly positive, with 24,041 buses and coaches sold, equal to an impressing +28.3% over compared to 2021.  Read more...

PBA Scholarship Program for Operator Members

At the October 2022 Board of Director’s Meeting, PBA chair, Tammy Wolf-Baker, proposed a new member benefit program, an Annual Scholarship.


The goal of the PBA scholarship is to support Member education goals and to encourage the pursuit of formal education. Formal education includes trade certification, specialized training and of course, college. There will be two annual scholarships awarded. 


Criteria for Eligibility:

Those eligible to apply for scholarships are employees or the dependent children of employees for Members who own and operate buses. The eligible employee must have been employed for at least one year by January 1 in the year in which the scholarships are awarded. 



Those eligible to apply must already be registered to a full-time college, professional school, or trade school at the time of application. They must also hold a minimum GPA of 3.0 or, if a professional school, the equivalent of a B grade.


The first scholarship will be awarded in 2024, while fundraising will start in 2023. The PBA Executive Committee will accept applications between January 1 and April 30 annually.  Read the Member Alert.

PBA Donates to the Konnection Kloset

“The Konnection is a Detroit-based mentoring program designed to encourage and empower youth to improve school performance and attendance. The Konnection partners with middle and high schools in underserved communities to provide resources including basic needs, enriching after-school programs, mentoring, field trips, career exploration, and travel opportunities. Crisis Management Webinar Held

PBA and GNJMA hosted a webinar on Crisis Management Strategies, facilitated by Jill Nagy, January 17th. Crisis management takes on many forms depending on the nature of the emergency and the nature of your agency's operations.  


The discussion was centered on:

  • Preparedness
  • Types of crisis situations that may impact the motor coach industry.
  • Strategies to mitigate risk in various crisis situations.


The perspective of the conversation was both from a legal and risk management perspective.  If you missed it, you can view the slides here.

Driver & Employee of Distinction Awards Nominations

TODAY is the Nomination Deadline!

The PBA Driver & Employee of Distinction Awards was developed to honor members' drivers and employees who have demonstrated an exceptional performance record and service to their employer.


NEW! We are inviting our Travel Supplier and Associate Members the opportunity to also nominate an employee for the Employee of Distinction Award.

 

The award presentation will take place at the 2023 Marketplace Networking Reception on March 27, 2023 in the evening at the Holiday Inn, Morgantown, PA. The deadline to nominate is today, January 31, 2023. Get more information and start the nomination process.

The 2023 Marketplace will be hosted by Pennsylvania's Americana Region at the Holiday Inn in Morgantown in Morgantown, PA on Tuesday, March 28. The seminar, reception and setup will occur the day before, Monday March 27.


Some important deadlines are right around the corner!


  • January 31, 2023 - Last day for Operators to schedule a FAM Tour.
  • February 15, 2023 - Registration and Sponsorship opportunity deadline. (for guaranteed placement on floor and the Marketplace Directory).
  • March 21, 2023 - Holiday Inn Morgantown hotel overnight room deadline.

If PBA members want to drive a bus to the event, we will need to give the AACA a bus count in April, so we are assured a designated parking area large enough. Please let Pattie know if you want to bring a bus. Thank you!
