Mutual of Omaha's Due I in the Pool rocked the IUPUI
Natatorium December 11th and 12th in Indianapolis.  Team USA remains undefeated in this made-for-TV competition hosted every other year since 2004 against either the European or Australian All Stars. Matt Grevers broke the 100 backstroke World Record with a stunning 48.92, and Missy Franklin showed she's back in top form, particularly in the 200 freestyle. Missy, a USA Swimming Foundation Ambassador, defeated the Iron Lady from Hungry, Katinka Hosszu, setting a new American Record to win the event.

Duel in the Pool was the perfect backdrop for our final U.S. National Team Alumni social of 2015.  The turnout was robust with 29 U.S. National Alumni and USA Swimming Foundation Trustees meeting for lunch before the Saturday competition session. Many thanks to our USA Swimming Foundation Ambassador and special guest,  Jason Lezak who enthralled us with his stroke-by-stroke account of the 2008 Olympic 4x100 relay anchor where he famously ran down France's Alain Bernard. Jason recounted his surge of adrenaline in those final 15 meters and thought Team USA had lost until he looked up and saw Michael Phelps celebrating on deck. A special thanks to National Team alum  Maddie Bromley for helping us connect with Indianapolis area alums!

If you missed the Indianapolis social you'll have another opportunity to see your peers and meet special guest, Tyler Clary at the 2016 Men's NCAA DI Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, March 24-26.

Details are in the works, but we already have a dozen alums confirmed for the Saturday, March 26th social. If you live in the Atlanta area or plan to be in town, email Mel Stewart or call him at 512.656.8806 to RSVP.

Giving back to the sport of swimming can come in many forms. 1960 Olympian Jeff Farrell donated his time and several hundred personally autographed copies of his book "My Olympic Story" to all our guests attending "Swimming Through the Decades" on Saturday, November 21st at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. Thank you Jeff and son, Marco, for making this event a truly special one!
