Call for Artists!
IT'S A small WORLD
Johnson PhotoImaging is sponsoring a juried photography exhibit at the Senior Friendship Center in Sarasota, 1888 Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota, FL 34236. The show will run from November 1st to December 5th. The exhibit is open to all JPI customers, InFocus students, and other participants showcasing their recent photography work. The title for the exhibition is "It's A small World." The theme implies an emphasis on close-up or macro photography; however, it is open to interpretation.
 
First Place  $200 -  Second place  - $100 -  Third Place  - $50. Plus a  $50 Viewer's Choice Award  to be selected day of the reception.
 
ENTRY FEE - $8 per piece due upon receiving. Entry Fees are non-refundable. You can submit up to six entries.
 
Each work must be unique and mounted on a 16" x 20" inch blackboard no more than 3/16" thick. Prints sizes can be between 12"x12" to 16" x 20". Work not following the format will be disqualified. There are no refunds. Do  NOT add any hanging device on the back. The photographer must present the work finished and ready to be displayed at the time of drop off.

  • Receiving - October 25th & 26th at JPI.
  • Reception - November 8th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at SFC.
  • Pick Up Work - December 11th - December 14th at JPI.

OFFICIAL RULES AND REQUIREMENTS
JPI InFocus is having its 5th Photography Exhibit at the Senior Friendship Center from November 1st to December 11th. The exhibit is open to InFocus students/participants, instructors & the general public showcasing their recent photography work. 

Theme - The title, "It's A small World," implies a subject of a close-up or macro photography; however, it is open to all photographic interpretations. Images may be manipulated or altered in any way. Yes, this means Photoshop. Any subject is acceptable as long as it doesn't promote graphic violence or anything illegal. It can be thought-provoking, funny, serious, scary, happy, sad, or a combination of them all.

Exhibition Requirements
  • Originality - Entries must be the original design of the photographer and completed within the last 12 months. Class projects, of the artist's conception, are acceptable. Copies of someone else's work esign are not acceptable. i.e., scans or photographs of magazine covers.
  • Size - Any size from 12x12 to 16x20.
  • Hanging/Mounting requirements -  All work must be mounted on 16" x 20" black matte board that is no more than 3/16" thick. Do NOT add any hanging device.
  • Artist Info - On the back of the mounted work, each piece must include title, artist name, artist phone number & artist email.
  • Selling - You may sell your work with a suggestion to donate 10% of the sale to the Senior Friendship Center.
  • Promotion/Marketing - All work submitted may be used in promotional material and social media to advertise the event.
  • Withdrawal - No work accepted for the exhibition may be substituted or withdrawn during the exhibit.

Entry Fee - The fee is $8.00 per piece due upon receiving. Entry fees are non-refundable.

2nd Place $100
3rd Place $50

Viewer's Choice Award will be chosen by those in attendance at the reception by secret ballot for a JPI Gift Card of $50. Viewer's Choice & Place winners will be on display at JPI for three weeks after the exhibit comes down.
Receiving and Pick Up
Delivery of Work - All works must be picked up and dropped off at JPI by you or your designated contact. All work must be delivered and picked up by hand. We can NOT accept delivery of shipments of nor can we ship the work. Work not picked up by the designated time may either be donated or disposed of by JPI at their discretion.

Receiving -  We are receiving work ready for display at the store only: JPI 6709 53rd Ave E, Bradenton, FL 34203 on the following times & dates:

Friday, October 25th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Saturday, October 26th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Reception -  Friday, November 8th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at  SFC 1888 Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota, FL 34236 .

Pick Up Dates -  Work must be picked up at JPI during regular business hours. December 11th through the 14th - Work not selected for the exhibit. October 31st.

Online Receiving Mounting & Printing
You now have an option to submit your work online at www.jpiphoto.com and have it printed and mounted ready for entry. You can send it online at any time.*

  1. Click on Online Photo Print.
  2. Select your and upload your images.
  3. Select the ones you'd like to print.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and select Small World Photo Exhibit.
  5. From there you can order your print options for the contest.

All Online Photo Contest Orders Fees include an entry fee.
*You do not have to print your order at JPI to be eligible for the exhibit. All entries regardless of where made, will be eligible per official rules and requirements.
Judging
Judge  - Work judged on presentation, originality, and photo technique.

Statement of Responsibility: Johnson PhotoImaging will do everything possible to protect the work of the artists. By submitting your work, the artist understands that JPI and the Senior Friendship Center are not responsible for loss or damage. All work displayed is at the discretion of the JPI and SFC. JPI reserves the right to the final presentation. The judge will be responsible for choosing art for the exhibit and the placement award winners. Artists will be notified by phone if the judge does not accept their work for the exhibition.
