Students should be bringing their planners home AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, so that parents can check on upcoming assignments.
LANGUAGE ARTS
8th Grade
Language Arts Teachers:

Mrs. Cain

Mrs. Kreitzer

Students finished literature circle work with final small-group meetings, a short book talk, and preparation for their argumentative-style essays last week.

The essay assignment asks students to compare the novels they read to the corresponding movie version of the story. Prior to watching the movie next week, students shared their current knowledge about the argumentative writing style in a pre-assessment.

BULLY PREVENTION MONTH
FMMS took actions to recognize Bully Prevention Month as a reminder to treat others with kindness and respect.

Students participated in their first, monthly "PAWSitive" Prevention class meeting.

All students completed an anonymous survey to collect information about student impressions of bullying at Faircrest.

Students also attended an inspiring presentation from local musician and speaker, Elec Simon.

Eighth grade Emerging Leaders organized bully prevention activities for students including a themed, spirit week contest, banner signing at lunch and positive signage throughout our school.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. PALUMBO'S HOMEROOM FOR HAVING THE HIGHEST PARTICIPATION IN THE BULLY PREVENTION SPIRIT WEEK CONTEST!
