Beaches, surfing, fishing and camping. Monmouth County is filled with all of our favorite leisure activities. In places like Asbury Park, Sandy Hook, Long Branch and Belmar, we have plenty of ways to make difference. Try out one of these projects this month!

Make A Difference Day
Saturday, October 28

Make A Difference Day is one of the largest annual days of service nationwide. Tens of thousands of volunteers across the country will unite on the fourth Saturday in October with a common mission: to improve the lives of others.
The 22nd Annual Coat Drive Begins!
For 22 years, The Jersey Cares Coat Drive has collected and distributed hundreds of thousands of "gently used" coats to men, women and children in need. In 2016, thanks to you, we collected and distributed more than 30,000 coats throughout the state. Companies, churches, police stations, schools and many others collect coats throughout the drive and deliver them to a collection point, where volunteers organize and package the coats for pick-up. Our approved nonprofit partners then pick up and distribute the coats to people in need. The drive begins in November, so start pulling out those forgotten coats that could be doing someone else a lot of good!
BNP Prepares Liberty State Park for Fall
Maybe it was the New York City skyline, or the silhouette of the Statue of Liberty in the distance, but on the heels of the anniversary of September 11th, Liberty State Park seemed like the perfect place for BNP Paribas to give back. These volunteers gave it their all as they worked tirelessly to weed and plant fresh mums in this urban oasis. Thanks to them, t he brighter, crisper park will be enjoyed by thousands of people this season. A big Thank You to BNP for your teamwork and dedication to the community!

Volunteer Star
Anu became a Project Coordinator because she liked the concept of having a leader at projects to make the most of the experience for both the volunteers and the agencies they serve. Her advice to first-time volunteers is to be yourself and have a giving attitude. Anu believes the more you give of yourself, the more you receive from volunteering.
