Clean up Saint Matthew's

We Need your help!

Saturday, April 5
8:00am until Noon

Do you enjoy the smell of a fresh room or the sight of a clean house? We do! But to get SMEC looking clean and new, we are asking for you to come join us on Saturday, April 5th at 8:00am with working hands and a willing heart.

We will be giving SMEC a good ole' fashion cleaning, touch up painting, and making some easy general repairs.  If you are interested in helping or volunteering your children, please see Tammy Halter for more information or sign up between services on Sunday.
Service hours will be given to any youth that needs them. We also will happily take donations of cleaning supplies.

Youth to host Compassion Sunday, April 6, 2014

Sunday, April 6 is Compassion Sunday at Saint Matthew's. During the 10 o'clock hour in the courtyard, there will be several displays,  set up by our Youth, offering information on how you can make a difference in the world.

There will be no Matt's Cafe of Coffee Hour on this date. There will be opportunities for learning and doing to make the world a better place.

Staffing Changes at
Saint Matthew's

Parish Administrator Staffing

As you know, we are grateful that Debby Tartell was able to accept full time employment in the parish as of the first of the year.  This has helped us plug the time-gaps in administrative coverage that existed previously, and to dis-spell the perception that Saint Matthew's was attempting to operate as a part time parish during the week.

Through it all, Saint Matthew's has been fortunate indeed to have the service of Tracie Witts as Parish Administrator for the last six months.  While Tracie and her family are not leaving Saint Matthew's, Tracie has elected to step down from the staff position as of April 15, 2014.  (This is a personal decision driven primarily by family circumstances involving young children at home.)  We are pleased to announce that Luisa Bonillas has agreed to serve as Interim Parish Administrator.  Our new Rector, Fr. Dominic Moore, has been fully appraised of these transitional matters and has indicated his intention to put his own stamp on personnel matters and administrative structure.  We owe Tracie a generous thanks for the progress we have made under her leadership, and we welcome Luisa with gratitude for her willingness to help ensure a smooth transition in the office.

Don't Miss our Children's Choir at 9 a.m. this Sunday

The children's choir sings at the 9 am service this Sunday - don't miss their sweet Lenten song:

What the dew is to the flower,
Gentle words are to the soul.
Such a blessing to your neighbor
You should never withhold.

Gentle words, so kindly spoken,
Often soothe the troubled mind;
While a friendship can be broken
By words that are unkind.

Ever-loving, Gentle Spirit,
Thou my constant guardian be;
So that I might do to others
As I'd have them do to me.

A Prayer to say during Lent

Father of my soul,

Mother of my heart,

I know your love for me is limitless beyond imagining.

You care for me as a loving parent.

Through my smallest Lenten sacrifices,

help me to become less selfish

and more aware of your ways.

Fan the flame of my desire

to draw ever closer to you.

Guide me to seek your love.

May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
