Call for Day of Caring Projects
Who?
United Way is asking nonprofit agencies, service clubs, public schools, municipalities, and service organizations, to please consider submitting Day of Caring project(s) so we may afford the hundreds of volunteers who participate in this one-day event a meaningful experience. Your organization does not need to be a funded partner of United Way to participate.
What?
Day of Caring is an annual day of action that connects teams of corporate volunteers with nonprofits from across the Blackhawk Region (Rock County, WI and northern Winnebago County, IL). Volunteer teams roll up their sleeves and provide much-needed human capital to complete full or half-day projects they’re assigned to at local agencies.
Projects in the past have included but are not limited to: assembly of furniture and playground equipment; clerical work (envelope stuffing, collating, shredding, workplace organization, etc.); creating toiletry kits for shelter guests; delivering flowers or meals to home-bound neighbors; downtown, park or trail clean-up; interior or exterior painting; light construction (Buddy Benches, cabinets, fences, small decks, balance beams, storage units, Little Free Libraries™, etc.); organizing donation rooms or pantries, playing BINGO with seniors at a local activity center; window cleaning; yard clean-up, landscaping, gardening; and much more.
When?
Now! The deadline to submit Day of Caring projects is July 16, 2021.
Where?
Day of Caring projects are hosted at nonprofit agencies and community organizations throughout the Blackhawk Region, which comprises all of Rock County, WI and northern Winnebago County, IL.
Why?
We know planning and recruiting for projects that require great human capital can be daunting, especially for lean teams. Let United Way and our corporate partners take care of some of the heavy lifting for you (pun intended).
