Dear Friends,
I’m excited to share some updates on Accompany Capital's recent activities and achievements.
At Accompany Capital we started our Small Business Week celebrations early with a celebratory Ethiopian coffee tasting and meal at Buunni Cafe, which was one of our honorees at our annual Immigrant Heritage Week awards. There were over 50 people at the tasting, many who were from the neighborhood, and who were delighted not only to enjoy a delicious meal and learn more about Ethiopian coffee but also connect with people in the neighborhood and new friends as well. That’s why we're so passionate about supporting small neighborhood businesses!
The following day, we flew to Detroit for the SBA's Microloan Program Training. Over the course of two days, we had the opportunity to join 150 colleagues from across the country to learn from the Chiefs of the Microloan and Community Advantage Programs and their team about how best we can leverage the low cost capital and the TA grant from the SBA to support our clients with the capital and advice that they need.
It was inspiring to hear about their efforts to provide low-cost capital and technical assistance grants to support small businesses. So we want to raise our coffee to not only our micro and small business clients but also to the dedicated professionals behind the scenes at the SBA, CDFI Fund, and other government organizations and private sector funders, who have provided us with the resources to help our clients thrive and survive the pandemic.
The $6.1 M award from the CDFI Fund will enable us to provide low-cost capital and develop new products and services that we have been wanting to offer based on lessons learned during the pandemic. We are beyond grateful for this opportunity and look forward to continuing our work in supporting small businesses and promoting economic growth in our communities.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.
Warm regards,
Yanki Tshering
