WELCOME TO OUR 25TH YEAR!

POTLUCK LUNCH, LAST SATURDAY, June 27th 12:30 Save the Date!

Potluck is back! The weather is lovely, and if it isn't too hot, I'd love to host this month's get together out under the trees. I bought some more Adirondack chairs for the lawn, and we'll have the picnic tables in the shade.

SWOR, June 14th, starting at 1ish, ending whenever

Spinners Without Rules will be meeting up again! Bring your wheel and fiber, and we can all spin together! Adrienne is still no good at it. If the weather allows, we will be out under the elm, if not, we'll be upstairs in the classroom.

It's June, and the solstice is on the 20th! These long, light filled days are just wonderful! I've been sitting out under the elm tree when it's quiet in the shop and using the time to sew or knit. The last few days it has been hand sewing a freeform quilt block with the beautiful fabric our fantastic Plant, Sew, Dye class created. I am building up a collection of textile "sketches" for a show that will open the first Friday in September at our local "Studio 540" (hinthint- this is also when our 25th Annual Woolgathering will be happening). Working out under the elm is a magical experience. There are always comfortable chairs out there to enjoy, so take advantage if you are in the area! This time of year, if you show up around closing time on Saturdays, you may find me out there with an open bottle of wine and extra glasses : )

June 14th is also the one year anniversary of my taking over the shop. A year! I think I've mentioned before that it has been a Learning Tilt-a-Whirl. The ups and downs have been wild, but I think we are finally finding our footing. Taking on an existing business is one thing, but re-inventing it at the same time is shockingly complicated at times! Everything is a risk, but I have found the only things in life worth doing are usually the hardest. So just to make it a little bit more complicated, and fun, I will be re-launching Bonnie's hand dyed yarn line, Deep Creek Yarns. It has always been a customer favourite, and none of us want to see it go, but Bonnie is clear it is time someone else did it, and that that someone else is me. So keep your eyes open for new Deep Creek yarn colour ways, and maybe a few new fibers bases, too! Hopefully we will be able to start getting some skeins out by the end of the month!

As promised, we have started bringing in some fantastic natural fiber yarns that will substitute into any pattern calling for synthetic yarns! Cottons, blends of cotton/linen and cotton/superwash wool... these are all workhorse yarns that are less expensive and machine washable/dryable. Give them a try and see for yourself how great going natural can be!

Lastly, join our Facebook group! We will be having a few small, one day classes in June and July that are difficult for me to schedule too much in advance as they are dependent on materials being delivered to the shop. I am committed to not flooding any of you with emails, so the FB group is the best way to find out what is going on between these missives. One of the classes will be a beginner pictorial needle felting class that I think will just be a fun class to teach and participate in (I'm just waiting to get reestablished with the company that makes the kits we will be using) . We will also be starting a series for simple, freestyle hand quilting that will focus on personal story telling (this one is just waiting for me to get the cooling system upstairs sorted out so we don't cook). I will also have a pricing schedule for things like loom or sewing machine rental for those who want to work on a project, but don't have the equipment.

Please excuse any typos! I had exactly 90 minutes available to get this done, and half way through it, the site crashed and lost the changes I had made, so this is a quick and dirty re-creation. This would be one of those tilt-a-whirl moments : )

YOGA AT THE WEAVERS!!!

Every Friday in June, 11-12pm

$12.50 cash at the door

This is a 60 minute intro class, priced at $12.50 per class, cash at the door. We will hold the class upstairs in the second floor class space. Because this is an exploratory class to assess general interest for a (near) future series, students will need to bring their own mats/blankets and any bolsters/cushions/blocks they would normally need in class. If we have sufficient interest, this will become a weekly class that will be able to be purchased in 4-week blocks. If you craft, you need yoga!
