Dear Friends,

We recently launched our 50th anniversary year. Wow!

Already we're experiencing profound sparks between artists and audiences of multiple generations!

It's been energizing to celebrate so many creative people from our lighting wizard of 50 years Carol Mullins to our 2024 Platform curator Kyle Abraham. This spring, Kyle brought together an intergenerational mix of choreographers including Bebe Miller, Vinson Fraley, David Roussève, taisha paggett, Shamel Pitts, and composer Nicholas Ryan Gant. Since last September, we've engaged more than 50 artists and produced 46 public events including performances, talks and conversations, classes, a book launch, a gala, a platform, and more, including supporting four residencies and producing two publications!

It's awe inspiring to think about the many generations who've danced inside our sanctuary at St. Mark's Church. But Danspace's true beauty lies not in the architecture but in the artists and their values. Values encompassing risk and care, freedom and vulnerability. Danspace Project is our collective spiritual home for dance, for performance, for artmaking, and for gathering.
