Our 2026 Season: REFLECTIONS

Greetings Friends,

DreamWrights Center for Community Arts is thrilled to announce our 2026 Reflections Season — a year dedicated to exploring the power of reflection through storytelling.

At DreamWrights, reflection is more than simply looking back. It’s about discovery — a thoughtful process that helps us learn, connect, and grow as artists and as a community. Each production this season invites us to consider who we are, what we value, and how the stories we tell shape the world around us.

Our first reflection centers on the most produced playwright in the English language, William Shakespeare. We begin 2026 with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, edited by the Royal Shakespeare Company into an hour-long version geared toward younger audiences but enjoyed by all ages. Followed by a farce with our friends at OrangeMite, who will soon complete their remarkable 18-year mission of producing the Bard’s entire canon — so we’ve invited them to help us do the same in just one night! Together, we’ll celebrate the enduring brilliance of Shakespeare and the joyful spirit of collaboration.

Next, we once again join forces with Weary Arts Group to explore the duality of love, redemption, and spirituality through two imaginative retellings of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice.

This fall, we’ll tumble into twisted tales of morality with our Classic vs. Contemporary Fables Reflection — a family-friendly, two-act extravaganza blending new voices with timeless tales.

As many in our community continue to face housing insecurity, DreamWrights will host a series of conversations and events exploring both local and national perspectives on this issue, leading up to the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Clybourne Park, the unofficial sequel to the landmark A Raisin in the Sun. Together, we’ll confront questions of equity and belonging right here in York City.

We’ll close the season with a grand musical featuring the iconic character Auntie Mame — a beloved figure first born in a novel, then adapted for stage and screen, and later immortalized in musical form by Angela Lansbury and Lucille Ball. Famed for its classic carol “We Need a Little Christmas,” this cherished musical reminds us of theatre’s power to uplift, inspire, and unite.

Throughout the year, our Studio Series will return as a six-part program of readings, concerts, and cabarets designed to deepen the experience of the season and spark conversation long after the curtain rises on each production.

The 2026 Reflections Season is an invitation — to pause, to engage, and to see ourselves and each other more clearly through the art we create together.

We can’t wait to share this journey with you.

Be Well. Be Creative. Be Kind.
