Central Florida Safety Summit

June is National Safety Month, with the second week, June 9-15, specifically dedicated to roadway safety. According to the National Safety Council, over 46,000 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in 2022, and there were 5.2 million medically-consulted injuries. These numbers are simply unacceptable. We must do a better job of focusing on the tasks of driving, walking, and biking. We can save lives and prevent crashes by paying attention to what we and those around us are doing.

Recently, FDOT held its Central Florida Inaugural Safety Summit in Orlando. During the summit, they unveiled the Central Florida Safety Strategic Plan (CFSSP). This plan is a framework for how we can work collaboratively across District 5 to address our safety challenges on both state and local roads. Click Read More to view the CFSSP.
