The 2019 parish-wide survey results are in! Thank you to the 231 parishioners who completed the survey. We are displaying the results of the survey and the focus groups on the wall in the main hallway. We’ll also be including specific answers in upcoming e-newsletters.
Did you know that our liturgies are in the tradition of Sarum (the abbreviated form of Sarisberium, the Medieval Latin name for Salisbury)? We use Rite I, which is very similar to the 1928 Book of Common Prayer , keeping the Elizabethan English with little update to the Creed and prayers. Rite I reflects the early focus of Father and Son. In Rite II, the liturgies are less traditional and reflect the influence of more contemporary theology and language. Its focus is on the Trinity.

MONDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: The Wisdom of Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes. As someone who loves the Old Testament, Fr. Peter Speropulos is excited to explore its Wisdom Writings with the Women’s Bible Study. His hope is that studying these books will whet the appetite for scripture itself and will provide for a thoughtful godliness that has the steadiness of Proverbs, the resilience of Job, and the sharp realism of Ecclesiastes. In short, for a wisdom not to only study but to live by. Please join us on Mondays from 9-9:45 AM in the Armstrong Room!

A CANDLELIGHT SERVICE OF ADVENT LESSONS AND CAROLS at 5 PM. A wonderful and meaningful way to usher in the season of Advent is through the service of Advent Lessons and Carols. This service, originally composed by The Very Reverend Eric Milner-White for use at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge, proclaims in word and song the promise of God to redeem the world through the Advent of His Son. The metaphoric procession through the liturgy – from darkness into light – is intended to prepare the worshipper for the coming of the true Light, Jesus Christ. Please plan to join us and be a part of this beautiful liturgy to mark the closing of the day as we begin a new liturgical year.

HOLIDAY RECEPTION FOLLOWING ADVENT LESSONS AND CAROLS: A Holiday Reception will follow Lessons and Carols in the Great Hall. Plan now to attend one of the biggest parties of the year! All are invited and encouraged to bring a friend to the Advent Lessons and Carols service at 5 PM. Please bring a dish to share with parishioners old and new! WOMEN'S WEEKEND RETREAT:  The Rev. Susan Guthrie will lead us in retreat entitled; Dark Love: Meeting the Beloved at the Empty Tomb . Mary Magdalene comes to the tomb not expecting anything, but she leaves with everything. So it is with our own prayer - we come in darkness, but leave as apostles. With John 20:1-18, we look at Mary’s transformation as we contemplate our own encounter with the Beloved in the “dark love” deepening from contemplation to mystical union.
The retreat begins at the Mercy Center on Friday at 5 PM and ends on Saturday afternoon. Brochures will be in the mail soon. Contact Laurie for more information at 314.721.1502 or .
More information about Suzanne can be found at . Mark your calendars. You won’t want to miss this retreat!
