Be a kitten hero!

Maya,

Spring is in the air. Mud season is underfoot. And kitten season is upon WCHS!

We expect the usual flood of kittens—a “cat-scade,” if you will—coming our way from now through October. Some will be hours or days old, umbilical cords still attached.

Newborn kittens can’t eat, stay warm, or even poop on their own.

Our amazing staff and foster volunteers tend to newborns around the clock.

Donors like you make sure we have the supplies, medicine, and staff needed to help these vulnerable kittens transform into pouncing, leaping mini-cats in just a few weeks’ time!

Once kittens weigh enough, it’s spay or neuter time. This donor-supported service

prevents cat overpopulation and keeps unwanted animals from ending up at shelters—so important!

Please help us raise $25,000 by June 30th to cover 586 kitty spay/neuter surgeries and care for 270 kittens this season.

Our seasonal visitors’ time at WCHS ends when their lives in forever homes begin.

Thank you for helping our feline friends live full lives as cherished members of loving families.

Berkley & Veller leads the kitten saving train

Saving the lives of needy animals is what WCHS does. And, during peak “kitten season,” the veterinary staff also performs dozens of spays/neuters to help curb the pet

overpopulation problem.

“Spaying and neutering are a simple, effective way to keep our local pet population from growing out of control and keeping unwanted animals from ending up at local shelters, yet it takes funds to provide discounted or free surgery."

–Maya Richmond, Executive Director.

To help ensure the Humane Society can meet its $25,000 goal – funding to cover the cost of veterinary care for 150 cats and kittens this spring/summer – Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country Realtor will match up to $1,500 donated to the Spring Campaign between May 8th and May 18th.

“The Humane Society provided over 800 dog and cat spays/neuters for local pet owners in 2024, and we know how important it is to have pets spayed or neutered and that is why we are challenging our friends, family, and neighbors to donate!”

–Tami Purcell, President of Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country Realtors

With gratitude,

Maya Richmond,

Executive Director
