When Linda emailed me today requesting that I write the monthly “Presidents Message” for the Envoy this morning, my first reaction was what do I say. It feels like “Ground Hog Day” every day, nothing seems to improve, the pandemic lingers on and on. So, in an attempt to not appear hopeless, I googled Inspirational quotes in the time of coronavirus and I found a lot of positive thoughts, and silver linings in an otherwise gloomy time. 

So, some thoughts to ponder on:

 “What you are looking for is already in you… You already are everything you are seeking.” —Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist monk, spiritual leader

 

Congratulations to Rickey Gelb, an 'Icon of Influence'.
Rickey has been among the annual list of 200 most influential leaders many times. On July 21, 2020, he was honored as the San Fernando Valley Business Journal for the first time selected its choices for the top 20 people within the 200 to be recognized as 'Icons of Influence, which speaks to the positive influence these leaders have had — and continue to have — in the broader region. Earthquakes

An earthquake is a sudden, rapid shaking of the ground caused by the shifting of rocks deep underneath the earth’s surface. Earthquakes can happen without warning and can result in injuries and damage to property and roads. Earthquakes can cause fires, tsunamis, landslides or avalanches. While they can happen anywhere, areas at higher risk for earthquakes include California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Mississippi Valley.
If an earthquake happens, protect yourself right away.

 It’s August in Southern California when we have some of our hottest weather. No matter your age, wearing UV blocking sunglasses, a broad-brimmed hat and SPF (Sun Protection Factor) lotion when you’re out in the sun are musts. No one wants a burn or, worse yet, to develop skin cancer, but when you’re a senior (65+) you are more susceptible to dehydration, so it’s necessary to take extra precautions when you are in the sun.
