Happy New Year 2019
It's the Little Things....

New Clients
So it is barely one week into the New Year and we are so busy with new clients, we can barely see straight! This is a wonderful situation because Dec/Jan is not traditionally the time people join our work family.

Since most of our clients are snow birds, most sign up before they head back home for the summer, meaning we see our biggest influx of new clients in March, April and May. Getting them in Dec/Jan is a happy bonus!

House Painting
The best aspect of a new client is that while sharing all that we can do for them always renews my own enthusiasm for this business. I truly love helping people and what better way to help someone than to ease the burden of too much to do in too little time?

Of course big projects like bathroom and landscape remodels or whole house paint projects or cabinet re-facing or flooring changes or, really, any type of construction work is fun and rewarding but sometimes it's the little things that mean the most.

Lately we've had some fun solving small-ish problems in record time.

Tasks like:

Storage Padlock
--The property management company who called on Friday the 21st of Dec with homeowners whose storage units had been broken into and who needed someone to make them secure. We had a quote for the work and made a form for the homeowners to simplify their work requests that same afternoon. We fixed the first storage unit on Sunday the 23rd (and with no Sunday premium charges)

--The lady who called about a gas smell when using her fireplace. We recommended the gas company who unfortunately confirmed the leak and turned off all gas late on a Wednesday evening. We repaired the valve before 10am Thursday and her gas (and the heat!) was back on quickly.

--The gentleman who called because his DVD player wouldn't work. We had that back up and running right away.

Rotting Berries
--There was the client who left for Christmas and was concerned she left a basket of berries on the kitchen counter and didn't want a purple mess. We got them removed within an hour of her call.

--The property management company who emailed about a broken latch on the community pool gate -- we had that repaired within an hour of receiving the email.

--We had three homes this week with smoke detector batteries screeching when we arrived to do the home check. All three were fixed by our handyman before we finished each home.

Streakless Windows
--There was the client who emailed to ask that we add two grab bars in her bathrooms -- they were installed the very next day.

--Then there was the client who emailed on Sunday Dec 30 about streaks in his recently cleaned windows (which you can't always see until the sun hits them just right). We had the window cleaners there at 9am on Monday to redo his windows.

I could go on and on about little jobs like these. Yes, we have to get right on these tasks to make sure they are addressed in a timely manner, but the real heroes are our vendors.

They make our requests a priority and we love them for it!

Handyman
We have a suite of vendors who do work for us. Most of them have been with us for a decade or more so our relationships are strong. All of them are insured properly and name us additionally insured so our clients know they can rely on us to protect their interests.

And since we are familiar with the quality of our vendors' work; we can trust the jobs to be completed properly and efficiently.

We love this business -- the business of making people's lives better. It's all the little things that happen every day that keep it interesting and fun. No two days are the same. No two clients are exactly alike.

We go out of our way to be flexible and to accommodate any request that is legal and kind. That is true whether our people are doing the work or if our vendors are doing it.

Winnie the Pooh is quoted as saying, "Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in our hearts" and that is so true.

Dog Cuddle
The hug of a grandchild. A dog happy to see you. The sun peeking out behind the clouds after a stormy day. The sound of water trickling over rocks.

Yes, we are your vendor. We are 'the help'. And we hope we're a little bit of family. We are here to make your life easier and better. And while we might not always be able to respond as quickly as shown above, we will always do what we can to give you priority so we too may take up a little room in your heart.

Happy New Year to all of you and never forget as we walk into 2019.... It's the little things that matter....
