Friends,

I am proud of the honest, civil and fact-based campaign I am running that focuses on the issues important to voters and my accomplishments as your state representative. Unfortunately, my opponent, who has promised to “restore civility,” has instead chosen to lie about my record.

A respected Greenwich Time columnist wrote about my opponent’s “deceptive” and “fear-driven MAGA” tactics back in September. Now, she is disseminating a new litany of lies, and it’s necessary for me to correct the record, yet again.

My opponent wants you to believe I voted to increase your taxes. That’s a lie. The truth is I helped pass the largest income tax cut in Connecticut history. Our fiscal discipline has allowed us to pay down a significant amount of our debt, saving taxpayers nearly $700 million per year going forward.

My opponent wants you to believe I oppose local control over zoning. That’s a lie. The truth is I broke with my party last year to protect Greenwich and vote against a “Fair Share” housing bill. This year I partnered with my colleagues, Representatives Meskers and Arzeno, and local zoning control advocates to fix language in a “Live, Work, Ride” bill that we knew was going to pass the House, with or without my vote.

In fact, Margarita Alban, Chairperson of Greenwich’s Planning and Zoning Commission thanked us for our work on that bill stating

The Greenwich Planning & Zoning Commission is deeply appreciative of our delegation’s commitment to promoting legislation that protects grass roots municipal efforts to advance housing options.”

My opponent wants you to believe I voted against restoring “consent searches,” the police’s ability to ask a driver to search their car if the officer suspects weapons or contraband may be inside. That’s a lie. I voted yes on that amendment on the House floor. This is another example of where I broke with my party to vote in my district’s interests.

My opponent wants you to believe that I voted “to make voting compulsory in CT.” That’s a lie. I voted to allow a public hearing. In fact, we hold hundreds of public hearings on all sorts of subjects. Listening and learning is part of our job as legislators and it’s essential to the democratic process that we get to hear testimony from constituents, experts and our colleagues, even on subjects we may not personally endorse.

Campaigns are about holding candidates accountable for their record and the promises they make. What I will not accept is an opponent who misrepresents and lies about my record.

I have the utmost respect for the residents of the 149th district and want to be sure you have all the facts when you make your decision on your ballot. I am proud of my record and I hope that I have earned your vote for my re-election.

All my best,
