It's time to

M.A.D.A.

(Make America a

Democracy Again)

Our Time. Our Battle. Our Democracy.

Thank you, Dr. Robert Hilliard, recipient of the inaugural Floridians for Democracy Guardian of Democracy Award. Dr. Hilliard, as a World War II soldier stationed in France, did not look away as he relentlessly pursued the survival of many abused Holocaust survivors following the war. Since that time, and as he approaches his 101st birthday, Bob has been an unrelenting voice against injustice. He has not and does not look away.

His latest mantra for all of us is:

Be MADA!

Make America a Democracy Again

Dr. Hillard was one of three inspiring panelists on the latest FFD program, Guardians of Democracy: Speaking Truth to Power. Chris Gibbs, a first-generation Ohio farmer and former 20-year Republican leader, became disillusioned with MAGA and joined the Democratic Party. Ronn Easton, a Vietnam veteran and public health advocate, became active in democracy advocacy after witnessing the cruelty of ICE policies.

Panelists shared their experiences with political transformation, rural voter perspectives, the impact of Trump's policies on agriculture and veterans, and strategies for rebuilding democratic engagement, particularly focusing on reaching voters who feel disconnected from political processes.

WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW

  • Reach out to at least five people to discuss the importance of restoring democracy and encourage them to do the same!

  • Use the Get MADA! slogan whenever you can on signs, flyers, postcards, wherever you choose to raise your voice!

  • Unite with marginalized groups to vote as one strong unit for democracy and to work towards common goals.

  • Have a positive message: Be for things rather than against things.

  • Silence is complicity: This is not the time to stay silent! Speak up, speak out, and don't look away!

  • Help to get out the vote and then get out and vote!

Hope in action starts here ... with YOU.

Join us at the RALLY OF HOPE.

Save the date: August 29, 2026.

Be prepared to be inspired!

Hope is not passive. It is something we build together. The Rally of Hope will bring together community leaders, advocates, and engaged citizens to reflect on the enduring promise of democracy and the work that lies ahead.

We hope you will join us. RALLY OF HOPE!!!

Poor Policies move forward when people stay silent. Change only happens when we take action—by calling our legislators, speaking our truth, standing together, and voting.

Be part of the Rally of Hope.
