Arkansas Hospice volunteer shares her story on national radio program.

Thanks to Carol Garrett for sharing how Arkansas Hospice benefited her family while caring for her husband, Tom, on an insightful episode of "1A," a national radio program broadcast on NPR. “As soon as we made that connection to Arkansas Hospice, they immediately came out, they assessed our needs, and they met our needs,” said Carol, who is now an Arkansas Hospice volunteer. “The only downside is I wish we hadn’t waited so long. I wish he’d gone in sooner because I really feel like his quality of life, which is so important, could’ve been better for both of us at home.”

This year, the Arkansas Hospice Foundation will award the Compass Award to Dee Brazil-Dale, co-founder and advocate of Arkansas Hospice and its mission. Dee embodies the true nature of a hospice heart, and her involvement has resulted in furthering the success of our important work. We are honored to present this award to Dee as she has been a compass for compassion for Arkansas Hospice, its patients and families.

Become a “Friend of Dee” with a $100 donation in her honor. All “Friends of Dee” will be recognized on our website, social media posts and in our e-newsletter.

Dee will recognized with a special video presentation at Party at the Plaza at 4:30 p.m. on April 22nd, 2023 at the Argenta Plaza in North Little Rock, AR.

Grief is a very personal journey that takes everyone on a different path. But perhaps some of the loneliest and most forgotten along the way are children. Please join us for this special episode of “Speaking of Grief,” our Arkansas Hospice podcast, that focuses on children’s grief. Our guest is Greg Adams, Program Coordinator for the Center for Good Mourning at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He is also author of "Adam Gets Back" in the Game, a children’s storybook about coping with grief and loss.

Recently, the Arkansas Hospice Foundation held a luncheon at The Capital Hotel with members of the Foundation's Board of Directors, the Arkansas Hospice Governing Board and organization leaders to honor the inaugural inductees to the Arkansas Hospice Foundation Circle of Compassion. This circle of elite benefactors includes individuals, companies, foundations and estates that have given generously to Arkansas Hospice over our 31-year history. We were honored to celebrate them and to hear greetings from original Foundation director and Arkansas Hospice co-founder Dee Brazil-Dale, Arkansas Hospice Board member and author of "The Hospice Doctor's Widow," Jennifer O'Brien, CEO Judy Wooten and Chief Philanthropy Officer Kim Kirkman. Congratulations to the inaugural inductees! We look forward to continuing to grow the Circle of Compassion for years to come.
