Many Ways to Celebrate Whole Grains Month in September!

Whole Grains Month starts September 1st, and it is the perfect time to create some excitement on social media! Share your favorite whole grain recipes, highlight a product featuring whole grains, or hold a giveaway or sale. Just remember to use #WholeGrainsMonth so we can help share your message! You can also tag us at @oldways_pt on Instagram and @OldwaysPT on Facebook. Check out our Whole Grains Month media Whole Grains Month media toolkit to get started planning your posts.

With less than a month to go until the Whole Grains Month kick-off, this is also the last call for Whole Grains Month donations. Sign up to donate cases of whole grain product to a winning food bank chosen at the end of the month by our Whole Grains Month contest winners

Attend Our WG Month Photography Webinar, Sept 8 @2pm ET

When you’re sharing whole grains on your social media channel of choice, your food photos need to be enticing and scroll-stopping. In this webinar,  experts will share best practices throughout the entire styling, photographing, and editing process using whole grain foods as a case study. At the end of the webinar, we’ll share how you can put your new food photography skills into practice throughout Whole Grains Month in September for a chance to win prizes.

Attend Our Sorghum & Sustainability Webinar, Sept 21 @2pm ET

Curious about the intersections between sorghum, health, and sustainability? In this session, attendees will learn about the nutritional makeup of whole grain sorghum and how it can be used in simple, healthy, delicious meals. This session will also explore how sorghum can help reduce water loss and provide valuable nutrition in hot, dry climates. Thank you to our friends at the United Sorghum Checkoff Program for sponsoring this session!

Introducing the North American Millets Alliance

It is our pleasure to introduce the North American Millets Alliance (NAMA), a new resource for those involved in the production and use of millets, including sorghum. NAMA’s mission is to share knowledge about the social and economic benefits of growing, marketing, and consuming millets in North America. NAMA is also exploring avenues to implement a virtual six-month conference as part of the UN’s 2023 International Year of Millets campaign. If you’d like to get involved, please email co-founder Jonathon at jklandeck@gmail.com.

Our New Stamp Program Manager Rebecca Alpert

We are very excited to introduce Rebecca, our new WGC Stamp Program Manager! Her childhood in Vermont inspired in her a passion for good food and sustainability, making her a perfect fit for the WGC team. She joins us after nearly five years in Japan, where she worked as a teacher and university administrator. Before that, she lived in NYC and worked at a raw chocolate company– yes, it was as delicious as it sounds. Feel free to ask Rebecca any questions about the Whole GrainStamp, whole grain foods and ingredients, or simply inquire as to whether she’s seen any good dogs lately!

Social Media Resource of the Month

Share one of our many Whole Grains Month graphics on social media in the lead up to September and tell your audience how you'll be celebrating. When you do, tag @wholegrains_council, and we'll engage with your post!
