June is Elder Empowerment Month
The History: The Older Adult Behavioral Health Coalition is a partnership between many local community organizations interested in the behavioral health care of older adults in Ashland County. The Coalition was organized in October 2006.

The Coalition began to promote World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in 2013 to raise awareness of this important issue.

The following year, the Coalition chose to continue promoting Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15 , but to promote the health and safety of our seniors by identifying the month of June as Elder Empowerment Month in Ashland County.

Get Involved: Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 8am. at The Professional Building on Church St. in the Community Room.
The Coalition works hard to organize a series of events throughout the month to provide information and resources to older adults, caregivers, and professionals.

Activities are organized and sponsored by Coalition members. All activities are free and the public is invited. Note that on Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Safe Haven has organized a public information and resource fair at the Sheriff’s Annex.
