As some of you may remember, we dedicated our 83rd home in June 2011 in Denton to the Delgado Family of five. In June 2021, at the 10-year anniversary of the dedication of their home, Victor and Dora Delgado paid off their mortgage! They both worked hard the past ten years, saving their money and making extra payments on their home, making this exciting achievement possible for their family.

Before owning their Habitat home, Victor and Dora lived in a trailer that was built in 1968 with two small bedrooms and one bathroom. Their three children, Iris, Evelyne, and Oneil, kept asking them when they were going to move to a better place. After waiting patiently to be approved for Habitat Homeownership, Dora said, "We thank God and Habitat; it means so much for us because we have never had a home, and now we are looking forward to making plans. Now we cannot wait to see our kids grow up in a better place, and as parents, we will do anything for our kids." Victor and Dora worked over time on their "sweat equity" hours for their home, which foreshadowed their ability to work hard and pay off the home in just ten years. Their dedication and devotion is what we love about the Delgado Family and what makes them great ambassadors for Habitat!
