This week we're presenting 6 Bridges Gallery, Art Complex Museum and Yale University Art Gallery.
These three exhibitions take a long look at time in three different ways. From a show that analyzes natural formations shaped by the passage of time, to an exhibition that looks at human cultural history through artistic interpretations of everyday objects, to a show that simply brings together hundreds of years of art on a single subject.
Download the Artscope Magazine App to get the complete experience for our May / June 2024 issue. Available now.
We are happy to announce that the May / June edition of Artscope Magazine will be featured in the magazine sector of Art Basel Switzerland.

6 Bridges Gallery presents Formations: Clay, Stone, Time, a show that features the ceramic work of Jeanne D'Amico, the photography of Julie L'Heureux, and the sketches of Natalie MacKnight. Through their work, these three artists approach timeless subject matter - rocks, boulders, mountain ranges and more. While L'Heureaux and MacKnight visually represent these formations, shaped by time, D'Amico uses the very earth itself - ceramics - to create new functional pieces. The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 6 Bridges Gallery is located at 77 Main Street, Maynard, MA. For more information, please visit here. | |

Christine Palamidessi and Marsha Odabashian in a show that "recalls traditions, events, and customs across a range of cultures," according to a curatorial statement. The four artists in this exhibition explore "what makes us human" by exploring the past and how it connects to the future. The show "values, preserves and calls attention to what came before so we can learn from the past as we cope with the present and prepare for the future." The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Art Complex Museum is located at 189 Alden Street, Duxbury, MA. For more information, please visit here.

Yale University Art Gallery presents Year of the Dragon. This show pulls 30 artworks from as far back as the 17th century to celebrate the year 2024 - the Year of the Dragon. These works focus on the Eastern image of the dragon, a creature that "is believed to possess power in the celestial realm and to pour out blessings in the form of rainwater over swirling wind," according to a curatorial statement. These works, ranging from paintings to ceramics to textiles and ivory carvings, "demonstrate a long, complex, and continuing artistic tradition around this fantastical creature." The gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Yale University Art Gallery is located at 1111 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT. Now Showing at Armenian Museum of America: Gandzaran!
Notable Selections from Our Collection Armenian fine art historically focused on illuminations, miniatures, and other pious objects, the most significant of which were secured and hidden in the gandzaran (գանձարան), or treasury, of a monastery.
Drawing from the Museum’s vaults— our own gandzaran—this exhibit showcases the development of Armenian art in the 20th and 21st centuries, from its origins in religious motifs to the Soviet period and its continuous reinterpretation among contemporary artists around the world.
We hope it gives visitors a glimpse of the range and complexity of the Museum’s modern and contemporary art collection.
Notable artist featured are Jack Kevorkian, Minas Avetisyan, and Martiros Sarian.
The Armenian Museum of America is located at 65 Main St. Watertown, MA.
Hours: Thursday - Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. The exhibition will run through August 4, 2024.
