"Italian Serenade"
with La Bella Musica

The quintet La Bella Musica will present a concert of traditional Italian and Neapolitan music titled "Italian Serenade" featuring such classic Italian songs as "O Sole Mio," "Besame Mucho," "Volare," "Torna a Surriento" and the love theme from "The Godfather." The quintet is comprised of local musicians (left to right) Mark Sample (mandolin), Gail Sample (flute), Franco DiGangi (mandolin), Ben Larkey (guitar) and Ed Hanrahan (bass).
"The Monomonock Inn"

Local historian James Gardner will present a slide-lecture about "The Monomonock Inn," a showcase resort in Caldwell from 1902-1940. The Inn hosted wealthy vacationers every year from April through October and was renowned for its beautiful gardens, golf course, tennis courts and ornately furnished rooms. Learn about the history of this grand hotel and about some of its famous guests. Prior to this program, the Friends of the Library will conduct a brief Annual membership meeting to elect new officers and to present the 2019 budget.
"Practicing Poet: Writing Beyond the Basics"

Award-winning local poet and author Diane Lockward will present a Book Talk & Signing of her new craft book "Practicing Poet: Writing Beyond the Basics," which she edited and published. The book includes poems, prompts, tips, and essays on the craft of writing poetry. Several prominent poets from New Jersey contributed poems and will read some of their poetry. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
Thanksgiving Food Baskets

The Friends of the Library will be collecting non-perishable food items from November 1- 16 that will be donated to the Caldwell Food Pantry to create Thanksgiving Food Baskets for the homeless and needy. Canned items such as vegetables, cranberries, soups, yams as well as boxes of macaroni and cheese, instant mash potatoes, stuffing, and rice will be greatly appreciated. There is a food collection box between the Circulation Desk and the audiobook /paperback collection. Please give generously to this worthy cause!
Library Receives Weekly Fresh Produce Deliveries from FIELD GOODS!!!

Beginning Thursday, October 11, Field Goods will make weekly subscriber deliveries of fresh produce to the Library from 3:30 -7:45 pm in the New Book Area. Subscribers receive 5 to 8 different types of fruit and vegetables each week from over 60 small farms that practice sustainable farming.
