July 2024

From the Director

HOWA prides itself, and rightfully so, as primarily a community organization. At differing levels and consistency, we all seek community, more so for nomads who often find themselves without neighbors and friends nearby. This is why we proudly announce HOWA is working on a formal membership program. More details will follow, but entry-level membership will always be free for those living on limited incomes. However, for those who can financially support the HOWA community, we appreciate your support.

For the hundreds of you who currently provide a monthly donation to HOWA, you will soon be able to convert your monthly recurring donation into a HOWA community membership. In addition to your important donation to HOWA’s programs, you will also receive benefits in return at structured levels. The membership opportunity will not be a static program but will grow with added benefits as partnerships with vendors and other partners are finalized.

Potential benefits include:

Financial Savings—Members may benefit from discounts, redeemable points, and other financial incentives, which can lead to significant savings over time. If you are a business or service provider interested in providing a discount or another type of benefit to the HOWA community, please contact us at membership@HOWA.org to discuss partnerships.

Access—Members may receive early access to HOWA events, opportunities to engage with HOWA staff and board, and member-only gatherings.

Sense of Belonging and Community—Joining the HOWA membership program will create a sense of belonging and community among members, especially as membership will align with your values and interests.

HOWA branded merchandise—Logo items and other branded merchandise are available at certain membership levels.

Look for details on how you can become a member later this year. What other membership benefits would you like to see, and what are your thoughts on building our membership program? Reach out to us at membership@howa.org with your insight and ideas.

HOWA in the News

If you attended the 2024 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, you may have seen the table display or spoken with a representative of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Office of Engagement and Memorial Innovation to learn more about burial and memorial benefits earned through military service. There are many veterans in the HOWA community, and we are always happy to provide the link between them and the benefits they have earned. The full article here: NCA spreads memorial benefits awareness at Homes on Wheels Alliance’s 2024 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous.

If you are a veteran or other service organization interested in tabling at the 2025 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, please email us at rtr@howa.org.
