Success!

To everyone who donated to HOWA’s 6th birthday fundraiser last month, we are thrilled to announce that through the generosity of the HOWA community, we met our $10,000 goal. Thank you to everyone who donated on Wednesday.

It is only through the generous financial support of community members like yourself that we can continue to exist and grow. Thank you on behalf of the entire HOWA community and, most importantly, those we serve. If you did not have the opportunity to give on our birthday, please consider a generous donation today.

Thank you to the anonymous donor who provided the $5,000 challenge donation that allowed us to more than double our fundraising.

Calling All Photography Enthusiasts: Photo Contest!

Are you ready to showcase your talent and creativity? If you’re like many of us, your phone, tablet, or even an entire hard drive is filled with photos from your travels. HOWA is eager to see your best shots as we build our photo inventory for future use on our brand-new redesigned website in the works, social media, and other promotional materials.

We’re excited to announce our Nomad Photo Contest, offering you the chance to shine and win while also contributing to the launch of our new website, which will prominently feature images of the community by the community!

Contest Details:

  • Theme: "The Nomad Experience" – Capture the beauty and experience of Nomadism.

  • Eligibility: Open to all ages and skill levels.

  • Submission Period: Submissions are welcomed year-round, but to be considered for this contest, please submit by September 15, 2024.

How to Enter:

  • Submit your best photo or photos that fit the theme. There is no limit on submissions.

  • To enhance your chances of winning, include a brief description (up to 100 words) explaining your inspiration.

  • Ensure you sign the photo release during submission for photos that include you, your minor children, or others. All submitted photos become the property of HOWA and can be used in any way we wish, including editing or reformatting. HOWA will give the photographer full credit whenever your photo is used.

Prizes:

The top three winners will be featured, with full credit given to the photographer, in our October newsletter, on our new website, on the HOWA Facebook pages, and thanked from the stage at the 2025 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous. All other submitted photos will be saved and may be used in future HOWA social media, website pages, newsletters, and other promotional materials—with credit given each time your image is used. If you provide a submission, keep an eye out over the coming year—you might just see your photo pop up when you least expect it!

Why Enter?

  • Showcase Your Work: Gain visibility and recognition for your photography.

  • Be Part of Our Community: Contribute to the visual storytelling of our new website, celebrating the nomad lifestyle.

  • Leave a Legacy: Your photography will become part of HOWA’s visual history, helping to promote and preserve the nomad lifestyle for future generations.

Only 128 Days Until the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous Begins

We hope you are making your winter plans now to join the HOWA community in Quartzsite, AZ, for the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) and Women’s RTR (WRTR). As always, the RTRs are free to attend, and they will always be, as it is an important part of HOWA’s mission to ensure that ticket prices do not limit anyone’s ability to attend.

Even though the RTRs are free to attend, they are expensive to put on. This is why we are asking the HOWA community to consider the following ways to support the RTRs.

  • You, as an individual, your organization, or your business, can sponsor the event. This is a great way to support the W/RTR and promote your work.

  • Donate gift cards. From lumber and screws to morning coffee to band-aids and everything in between, it gets expensive to put on a safe and comfortable event. Gift cards from businesses such as Walmart, Home Depot, and Albertsons go a long way toward offsetting those expenses. Digital gift cards can be emailed to rtr@howa.org, and physical gift cards can be mailed to HOWA 1970 N Leslie St Ste 297, Pahrump, NV 89060.

  • Are you a craftsperson, knitter, or artist, or do you own or work for a business that provides a service or merchandise? Please consider donating an in-kind gift that can be part of a silent auction or sweepstakes. Contact us at rtr@howa.org with your idea.

  • Volunteers are vital to the success of the W/RTR. Look for opportunities to volunteer for the event soon. If you are a first-timer, this is also a great way to connect with the event and the community.
