While it may seem cold and grey outside, heartwarming acts of service are happening within the walls of our school!
We kicked off the Cradles to Crayons clothing drive for new and like-new clothing, so it's a great time to clean out your closets and to consider volunteering for our on-site visits scheduled for mid-February, details are below.
Also, plans for our Parent Paddle Party on January 27 are well underway and it is sure to be a fun night of paddle and socializing.
We hope to see you at our upcoming events!

Month of Service
Learning at HWS
Kicked off by Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Hubbard Woods students will engage in a month of service-learning, focusing on community and dignity. In conjunction with this school-wide curriculum, all students will take part in service projects benefiting Cradles to Crayons. In school, students will create “well-wish notes” — notes and drawings of encouragement that accompany each clothing pack distributed by Cradles to Crayons. Secondly, students will sort and quality-check donations. Lastly, grades 2-4 will volunteer in person at the organization’s Giving Factory in Chicago. Please expect more details from Beth Carmody and your student’s teacher in the coming weeks.
